So am I the only person who washes the horrid milky liquid off the cream cheese with cold water before even thinking about eating it...

It's just a bit of stuff that's separated... I don't remember noticing it, but it's been ages since I've had Philadelphia cream cheese.

But when yogurt separates a little and there's some watery liquid on top, I pretty much always pour it down the sink.

Mattoid
Mattoid on Jan 01 '08 at 5:15pm
Yeah it's the same with yoghurt, except it's too weak to wash so I carefully drain it and make sure anyremaining is well distributed.

jk.

I don't drink it.

we only get creamcheese in block form.

so we don't have this problem.

I don't no, like we had lasagna today, and I was making the roux, and I kept going back to stir it while it was cooling to avoid a skin forming, haha!

Oooh, interesting, I don't think I've ever seen it in block form. Apart from Boursin is sort of.

yeah i always get it in block form, but i hate that problem with yogurt.

similar things also happen with paint sometimes with the stuff they put in it to make it bond or something. :P

man, isn't that just like whey? I usually mix it into the cream cheese. It happens with ricotta cheese too, me thinks.

Yuuuuhs, yuuuhss, but "just whey" and "horrible milky liquid stuff" paint two very different pictures...

They have made it look delicious. I wouldn't drink it though...watered down dairy really odds me out...like lassi and stuff...weird...
