For The Same Man was sampled a few years ago for a club jam which I thought was pretty awesome

thump thump thump!

Except for you ofcouse, Spaceman who is sick. I'm surrounded by boxes right now, still haven't unpacked my records after moving.

All that stuff gets sampled to death, it honestly amazing when you pick up a dusty old record and say to yourself, "ah, that's where that got that amazing sample!" Bambaataa's Planet Rocks is straight from Kraftwerk and something else.

Good dirty cover of Same Man to keep up with the times.

50% of my music collection is from the 80's decade. Most of what I really love to listen to from the 80's is very well known bands though. If the band was beyond amazing then they were well known eventually.

Stevie Ray Vaughan was not well known for a long time in the 80's, but now most people know who he is. He is my favorite blues guitarist of all time. If I you want to expand your horizons into the 80's blues then SRV is the place to start. Here is a vid of him:

"If the band was beyond amazing then they were well known eventually. "

Biggest misconception ever, at least on a commercial level, which I assume is what you are suggesting.

When we think of disco today, we thing of KC & The Sunshine Band and all that commercial crap, whereas, in Italy and Europe, there were tons of amazing disco bands and producers that weren't commercially viable, never became famous, yet their records are searched for today and most people, including myself, have never ever heard of them. Just because it was never a commercial success does classify it as bad music... there's a lot of commercial music that is terrible.

The thing is, we've all heard of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Mix A Lot, I wanna find those incredible artists that slipped through the cracks into obscurity.

"80s jams you've never heard of "

I also like big butts though, we all do.

Ah, I love La Poupee qui Fait Non, haven't heard that in ages!

Never heard Don't be Greedy, definitely coming off of the 70s infused disco

Here's Kid Creole And The Coconuts - My Male Curiosity

Oh, man, they are great, don't know that I've ever heard of them and this song rocks. I'm digging on the bass guitarists serial killer look... what the fudge is he doing with the bass guitar at the end, it's backwards and he's still "playing" on it... lip syncing much? (I have no experience playing bass so maybe someone knows)
littlem
littlem on Aug 29 '10 at 3:24pm
hahah it looks like they just grabbed some idjit outa the crowd to "synch" the bass cuz he's doing it so poorly. i think he's just trying to look good for the video

I do have to admit that piano rave music does kill my soul. Even though I have tons of house, minimal techouse, d&b records.... piano rave fitzelmitzen polka is the antichrist.
