I'm looking for some helpful advice..

I am currently rolling out the walls of a store interior for a painting project that is in the works, and the owner has given me virtually complete artistic freedom.
One of my recent ideas for the background of the work is something of a wallpaper design; repeated shapes uniformed as a pattern. The store is in the business of pet supplies, focusing mainly on cats. With this in mind, I have thought about incorporating cat-like imagery to this stenciled wallpaper design, such as a cat paw print, and a photo-realistic cat face, for example.
But another idea of mine, which segwayed from the last idea mentioned, was something of a Louis Vuitton knock off. I have thought about directly taking the Louis Vuitton pattern and using it for the wall, only to replace the LV with the store's initials, MC. I may even incorporate a cat paw or a cat face in the pattern as well. The thing is, the pattern seems to be just about everywhere you turn.
So what do you think? Is the Louis Vuitton pattern just too played out to even bother replicating? Are there a lot of other knock-off LV patterns that you have seen? Is doing it even legal??
Thanks for your help!

I think if you didn't try to replicate it exactly, and added your own spin on it- as a parody it would be nice. Doesn't your artistic license extend to borrowing ideas?
