not to hate on any new members on threadless, but i've noticed that a lot of the people who leave comments about a shirt design are members who have just joined recently. most of them have just joined threadless this month. member for a few days / weeks.
also, most of them are giving an average score of 4.0++ and have never submitted a design.

this isn't necessarily bad, but i wish that more experienced threadless-ers would leave their thoughts and suggestions about a design without being too sarcastic and rash.

be assured i am not one of them 4.0++ crazy folk, tho i am new. i hav commented already that there seems to be a few ppl who are just ecstatic about every single design. since i havn't been around long i can't tell how many of them are newbs but i assume those are the ones you've noticed.

i agree.
it's great to hear feedback from everyone but it would be greater to get some constructive critiques from the more "experienced" threadless crowd. but then again, i like all comments.

This is off topic like mad, but Patrick, could you link me to that shirt you mentioned in Pacifique's Plane submission, if you have any idea where you found it?... Death Cab has the suckiest shirts on their site...

And yeah, those noobs, boo them.

It's out of print. I couldn't find a picture of it anywhere. If you really really want me too, I could take a picture and put it up in as my user pic. But, yeah, couldn't find it anywhere on the web.

Bah, alright. Thanks anyway. Would be interested in seeing what it looks like though.

Well, I posted a picture of it as my userpic. It's one of my favorite shirts. Sorry you couldn't get one.

Thanks a ton Pat! I appreciate it.

I'm gonna settle with the We Have the Facts shirt on the Barsuk site, would've loved that one though. Yellow and blue are the best color combo ever.

So... how do you know that people are voting 4+?? Or do you get little charts when your shirts are done being voted on??

The averages of quite a few new users are pretty high, some even above 4. I'm thinking that's what he meant.

Gosh my average scoring so low, I feel bad now...

I think the not-so-average Threadless user's average score should be between 1.5-2.0.

What cutoff do you label people as noobs by? Am I considered a noob by the Threadless old hats?

I love how all the newbie submissions fill up 8 or 9 pages at the start of voting, and invariably, that shrinks down to 4 pages by the end of the day.

The circle of life.

I think that the site will again return to a higher quality collection when the ADD, 5-minute designers and voters who have flooded here move onto something else to be ADD about.

---------------------------

to answer your question DrumBum, there really isn't any definite cut off in order to fall into the catergory of noob. that's really not the point i was trying to get across.

It's the fact that the new members are more willing to leave comments. most of them are nice and positive. "Great Design!" - "Five and Purchase" or. "NO" - "I DON'T LIKE IT"

the problem is the fact comments like those are pretty much useless in improving the design. Not a lot of people get into details about why they do or do not like the design. The artist is just left hanging in the dark as to why people react to their designs the way they do. There is a lack of serious, constructive comments.

Merricksmile definitely has a good point. And again, I agree.
