Okay, as expected, my iRock shirt has developed a negative fan base. Hate comments are always fun to read and I share them with you now.

"iSTOLE. Steve Jobs paid a lot of money for this campaign--of course it's nice... "

-- iSTOLE :: well that's original too. next.

"i don't think i get this at all. correct me if i'm wrong but basically you're using someone else's design and concept except you added a little word play?"

-- isn't that how spoofs work? it wouldn't be a spoof if the idea wasn't spun off another idea. next.

"what, am i an ad for ipod? i don't like this at all. very dated design."

-- this last one isn't so bad, but neither is it constructive. anyway, it's still ammusing.

Side note :: this made me crack up when i saw it.

Umm.. well it's not like the bad comments just came out of nowhere. I too am not trying to give you a hard time, but you pretty much expected that type of response.

I have a feeling that your going to submit a pretty cool shirt in the near future.

Are you sure it's made by Microsoft? Well whoever makes it, it's always bothered me that they just flat out ripped off the iPod name. Trying to ride their coat-tails.

maybe you're right, i don't think microsoft itself developed the player but it's a proprietary media player for microsoft and promotes windows media formats

most people dont even know the I in all of Apples products stands for Internet... and therefore often misplaced when ripped

internet? funky. makes sense for iTunes. but iMac G4 its kinda funky. same with iPod. internet pod. would've been better if it meant 'intelligent' with the exception of iTunes.

iRiver has been around as long as the ipod. At least they both came to my conscious awareness at the same time about 1.5 years ago

the iPod is almost 4 years old, the iRiver is a much later knock off

but it was actually the first iMac that sparked the hole era of ripoff iProducts

it's an i. who cares. iHOP has been around decades before iPOD. so what? adding a lowercase i is not copyright infringing. it's a lame attempt to copyright the alphabet.

spoofs take the item out of context in a unique way. portraying something that is not expected of the subject. this doesn't do anything, it very well could be used for an ipod commercial. but then again.. there is such a thing as a bad spoof.

So wait, Ys, your saying that the iMac ripped off the whole i thing first? Cuz iMacs are made by apple. And they're the first ones to do the whole i thing.

Thus, ripping off themselves.

i think what he's saying is that iRiver is the ripoff and Macintosh has all rights to use the iBlahblah on any other product they own such as iMac, iTunes, iPod
¥s
   ¥s on Jun 24 '05 at 3:48pm
well, im not syaing Apple own the right to use the iWhatever, just that they started it and soon the rest came along.

It's just funny how some makers of these products dont realize it stands for internet and put it in front of names of products with no relation with the internet or computers at all.

Uh, Creative had the Nomad a long time before Apple made the iPod. Not to mention that Rio had portable mp3 players before that.

The iRiver is owned and manufactured by iRiver, to the best of my knowledge there's no other stake in them. Apple is very good at marketing things as though they invented them, but in reality have not. Most of the time they also toss in a heaping helping of corporate cool and a hefty price tag. The iRiver plays more formats than the iPod, includes an FM tuner and costs less than an iPod of the same storage size.

Of course it's not as pretentious, nor does it have as talented an advertising team.
