Some folks at the barn have suggested that I should make up shirts for them to buy w/ our name on it. I'm all for the idea, and looking into setting up a cafe press shop to suit these needs.

Anyone have any experience with them? Good bad indifferent? Are there cafe-press alternatives I should go with instead?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Im sure you could find someone locally to print you up some shirts for a reasonable price.

Thanks for the response xiv! True, that might be a better way to do it. But we're really low on capital right now, so I can't afford to have inventory sitting around. And I'm not sure I could sell enough on pre-order to make it doable. So I like the idea of print-to-order.

But I don't know enough about modern printing processes - do you think a local place would be able to do small scale runs? Can they make them on different articles (ie on shirts and jackets, or would I need a print run on both?)

OK, you've opened up a whole new can-of-worms. I guess I better start calling around.

But I'll leave this thread up if anyone can comment on cafepress' quality.

Thanks!

it's been a while since i got a shirt from them, and i think the printing process has changed since then. at the time, the quality wasn't as good as screen printing but was okay.

i've been pleased with their mugs and stuff like that.

my biggest complaint about cafepress is they're overpriced. their shirts cost almost as much as new threadless shirts, but aren't as good.

you may also want to look into zazzle.

Thanks! Yeah, they are expensive. I wouldn't really mark them up at all, so I wouldn't get much/any profit. But then, I won't be selling a million anyways. It would just be a way for boarders/students to get them easily, get some free (for me) advertising out there, and avoid inventory on my part.

I've heard a lot of good things about MySoti.

yeah mysoti is a good alternative to cafepress.. but really cafe press isnt that bad imo.. and there is a large selection of shirts there that you can print on, vs. mysoti which is just 1.

I haven't submitted any photos. I guess I don't want free money.
