I'm getting a job at an emergency vet clinic, triaging the incoming animals, so I gotta wear scrubs. In order to not bother the customers I will be interacting with, they've asked if I'd mind wearing a hat (mohawk) -- they "don't want to ask me to change who I am" (don't you LOVE these people?).

All suggestions are welcome.

...I do not think my propeller-beanie will be appropriate. Although I would LOVE to go get a black (or cream) bowler, I'm not sure that would be appropriate either.

unless it's one of those rasta hats with fake dreds down to your knees, i doubt you'll have trouble finding something that matches.

A bowler/derby would be so awesome.

A fedora? I'm not sure what exactly would be appropriate at a veterinary clinic.

Get one of those blue bandana type things that surgeons on medical dramas wear.

I think I might go with a blank ball-cap, probably close to the color of my scrubs (which I need to stock up on, post-haste).

I don't think a fedora would be good 'cause it would (at least slightly) limit my vision. A bowler wouldn't hide my eyes from the customers -- nor would a ball-cap if I wear it like Alvin (of the chipmunks), as I typically do.

Hmm, a surgical cap. Yes, I do suppose that would be appropriate, wouldn't it.

lol @ d3d! I could get one like 1989 Batman's Joker.

If it helps, I'm the gender-queer white gal in this photo. So some things won't really fly well.

Get a chef's hat and carry a meat cleaver. For bonus racial stereotyping points, write the name of a local Chinese takeaway on your scrubs.

I'd go with the bowler. I've got one and it goes with just about everything. On the other hand it feels a bit weird wearing one inside (or at least it does to me) so maybe a cap or a bandanna would be more practical.

I'm goin' bowler. Has to be black too. I talked with my sister and she mentioned that a white/cream one would get blood ALL over it (in a more noticeable fashion).

pilgrim hat!

you could consider it a not-so-subtle condemnation of their puritanical attitudes.

que? the clinic has no problem, but since my job would be working with the general public, they would like me to not be too outlandish -- besides, they didn't say I had to grow my hair out, they said a hat. That's pretty cool for a business.
