Is there anything specific people would like to hear for the Modern Classics mix? Basically, the previous mixes are music from two years ago to today but this one would be from the mid 90s to today but songs that are still relevant either cos the bands are still together and poppular and it's a best example of their work or because the song really impacted the culture.

Silverchair, Wolfmother, Spiderbait, The Whitlams, The Vines, Regurgitator, Magic Dirt, Killing Heidi, Something for Kate and Augie March were all mentioned in Kelsi's blog and would be appropriate. I'll probably throw on some Powderfinger too. Trouble is, that's all leaning towards being simply an alternative rock mix.

I'll put on the Avalanches and Gotye which can make it a little electronic too.

Would people like some pop? Kylie Minogue? Natalie Imbruglia? Or should I just play towards Threaldess's obvious indie slant?

And would anyone want a Classic Classics mix? Like 80s and earlier? I had a go but it was all Men at Work and crap and I don't know if any of the songs are actually good or whether they simply succeed here for nostalgia value and the like.

(^ i think my oz musicology starts and ends with midnight oil, so i'm of no help whatsoever.)

All those mixes are rad, except pop!! Australia has an embarrassing mainstream pop scene.

Do you just zip the mp3s and put them on a host? I wanna make a mad mix.

Yep, just make a zip and put it on mediafire or something like that.

But who doesn't have an embarrassing mainstream pop scene? And there's some less-mainstream pop in there too.

I just think the Aussie pop scene is too fake and Americanised. I love love love Bertie and Bob Evans though.

I'm excited about these mixes. Is Blue Line Medic well listened to in Oz? I recall that they are from down under and I liked their first album.

They had a song called Making the Noveau Riche out ages ago, which made it into Triple J's Hottest 100 that year but I haven't heard anything since.

Wikipedia says their website has been hacked by a porn site though.

I haven't done Mix #7 yet, sorry everyone. They were mostly from my old Hottest 100 CDs and mostly in that iTunes format. I need to mp3ise them.

I'm motivated to do that 7th mix now. All the current classic bands will be on it. Plus jmag just did a list of the 30 greatest Aussie songs of all time as voted by Aussie songwriters. Some I agree with, some I don't so I want to do a list of old classics too.
