How and when did you learn about the birds and the bees?

My dad died when I was eleven, and my mom and I never had a good relationship, so nobody ever sat me down for "The Talk." I think I was nineteen before I figured it all out, pieced together from jokes, stories I heard in high school, a child development book, and HBO.

For those of you who haven't learned about it yet, enjoy this educational video:

I never had it.
4th grade taught me.
and then again in 7th grade? and 8th? I don't know.
I had to figure it out on my own, too, mostly because of my parents' culture.

we had sex education from 3rd grade (learning about pads/tampons) until like 8th grade. Then in high school everyone was required to take a health class to graduate.

I didn't have interwebs because I am ancient.

But I suspect it helped a lot of kids learn about sex. In horrible, horrible ways.

I once walked into my parents "wrestling", but they were actually practicing judo.

Later that night I watched skinemax, it was pretty educational.

I never really had the talk. I just kind of learned from the videos they showed in elementary school and the jokes my brother used to make that I never really understood.

I just assume that sex involves playing Diddy Kong Racing, but I think the people from last night's bacontaco already know that.

Later the next day he explained to me what he saw on skinemax, it was pretty educational.

Honestly, I don't know many Asians who got the Talk from their parents.

Of course, I don't know many Asian parents who show signs of affection.

Never had the Talk with my parents.

I'm starting to think that's a myth.

Well, first there was the fact that I grew up surrounded by my older siblings and cousins. And then there was that one time when my friend and I stumbled upon this book in the back of the library with all these "weird" looking pictures of people.
And of course health class (which began in 5th grade) was always informative.

But yeah, I don't think I ever had The Talk with my parents either.

both of my parents died right after i turned 18, and neither of them had showed signs of giving the "talk".

even if they had, it wouldn't have made much difference. i still would have been a huge whore in highschool.

I have a friend who told he got his first blow job in junior high.

I still wasn't entirely certain how sex worked in high school.

I got a dog when I was 7, and she was female. One day I noticed that she was bleeding from her private area, and I freaked out about it and told my mom we had to take her to the vet. I got some cursory education at that point, but most of what I learned was from health class, magazines, and TV.

But I'll still probably play Diddy Kong Racing.
