Gradients?

So, I have a question and it may be redundant, but I need it answered to go any further on a design I'm in the midst of: So we can use straight up gradients, not halftones correct?

well i did, but it seemed to me that the gradient portion of the submit page was a bit unclear. i mean i can do halftones, if necessary, but this design in particular looks much cleaner with the "smooth" gradient. reason i'm asking is because i saw a sub'd design earlier with a smooth gradient.

yes, you can use gradients, but when the design is actually printed, they have to print a halftone pattern using a certain dot frequency which depends on the garment color and the design. in your original submission you can use gradients, but the final product will be printed as a halftone.

the gradient will appear much smoother on the screen, but with the new printing methods, i'm sure they can simulate smooth gradients fairly well

I sketch/design/illustrate and come up with rather bizarre ideas. Most are unfinished, it's just what I do. It's how I work. I love coming up with anything to do with tentacles, tikis and eyeballs as you will see in my designs and such. Enjoy!
