Ok, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not, but I feel I've got some quality designs that deserve to be on shirts. Is it more networking to get people to score your stuff or can the quality of the design (when it IS a quality design) stand on its own? Either way, I'm attempting to network and receive some good feedback on this design, even though I've already sub'd it. Enjoy!

it is not so much about the networking - the social side is just for laughs - but you got skills so just keep it up man

IMO, making bold statements like, "I've got some quality designs that deserve to be on shirts," isn't exactly a good idea.

i think that if a person has good designs, they will stand on their own. there are plenty of designers here that just throw up their subs and get printed. just submit quality designs and let them do their thing, that's all you can really do.

best of luck!

iDan, that my opinion, that's why that thought started with, "I feel I've got..." I just try to be positive about my stuff, if it came off as asshole-ish, my apologies.

I read it as arrogant as well, because it was. You don't know that you won't be printed for those designs to begin with, but you can look at it many ways. You can drop your ego and realize that your work is not as good as you think it is and push yourself to make better work. You can analyze the Threadless community as a client and decide that what you have done so far does not fit what the client is looking for. You can sub your work to other contest sites to see if they score better. You can ignore it all and keep doing what you're doing.

What you decide is entirely up to you. My experience in art in general has led me to believe that never accepting what you have created as good enough is the only way to evolve into a better artist. If this is your passion, find the ideas that are compelling to you and express them accordingly.

You obviously have a decent level of technical ability, however, as you say yourself up there on the right, some of your ideas look unfinished and a little isolated on the shirt. If you work more on your concepts and take some time to look at the kind of things threadless print then you'll get an idea of what scores better and prints at threadless. Right now, I don't think tiki faces and ram skulls on their own are going to.

All the best with threadless.

thanks for the info. guys. as for the whole thing sounding arrogant, i'm not sure what to say. i had no intention of it sounding that way.

No worries.....just keep submitting, and the scores will go up. Intially I subbed designs when I felt that they might not be totally up to standard. I now really try to turn in things that I would be proud of years down the road. Good Luck!

My designs

All about me
I sketch/design/illustrate and come up with rather bizarre ideas. Most are unfinished, it's just what I do. It's how I work. I love coming up with anything to do with tentacles, tikis and eyeballs as you will see in my designs and such. Enjoy!
