Arrrrgh So what do people want?
I have a cafepress site http://www.cafepress.com/toastedghost and few people buy my stuff.
I have entered several threadless competitions and been declined at the submission stage so no one can vote. I put a number of them through the critique submission process and altered designs until I got positive feedback.
I have a flickr site scoring 12,496 views with very positive feedback http://www.flickr.com/photos/framedview/

So what the hell am I doing wrong

Sorry but I don't understand how people can say "your art is so f....... awesome"
and then that not be translated into people wishing to buy my work.

Forgive the whinge, seriously though any positive feedback would be great.

you art is pretty sweet but you can only have 5 colors here, may that's why?

It was only 5 colours, least I thought, 6 if you include the shirt colour but then thats only 5

If you are being declined at the submission stage you must not be following the guidelines. No more than 5 colors and you must show placement on shirt. Of course you need to follow the file size guidelines as well. Just make sure you follow all the guidelines they have for subs.

word... I dunno man, can you post what you subbed? because all of you work looks pretty clean, I can't imagine why it'd be declined unless it didn't follow the guidelines.

So what was wrong with spider-gran? I only see 5 colors there.

yep 5 colours and I used the template to create the design

No halftones

and the spidergran was not ripped but hand created.

I have seen other marvel characters on threadless submissions so surely its not one of copyright

It just is that threadless give 10 possible reasons why a design is decline and you have to second guess why.

Try submitting it again. I think it is very clever. One thing though, try making it with the allowed print area - just in case!

You know what would be cool, that flickr photo you have of your hand biting the finger would make a cool design if you could translate it well on to a shirt. Or I think it'd be cool to try out the "7 deadly sins" series you made as shirts. Just an idea.
