In venice in a restaurant we found a canadian girl's passport. We looked outside for her but to no avail. The passport didn't have any contact info for us to reach her with, we only knew her name was Jessie Speers from Toronto, she's 16, and she's also been to St. Martin. Oh yeah, she also came in to europe at Frankfort and is passport less. So my parents went on the gondola and I waited in the restaurant in case anyone from her family returned and kept my ear open for english or french speakers. I met some american girls and a whole class of english students but no canadiens. Poor girl is going to have serious problems when she decides to leave Italy.

I just wanted to know if any of you Torontoans might happen to know her or the family. I know it's a long shot but I figure its worth it. Her name again is Jessie Spears she has brown hair, she's 16 and passportless.

Assistance to Canadians in Italy

The Embassy is in Rome. The right thing to do, is to call the Canadian Embassy, and report to them that you have recovered the passport in Venice. She is likely to contact them - they may be able to arrange for her to pick it up.

we left the passport with the restuarant manager who was going to take it to the police if she didn't come back within a day or so. Unfortunately i'm back in spain now and can't really change that.

no I didn't really think i would find her here, I just know there are a few people here from toronto and it would be a great irony if someone happened to know her.

The stupidest thing I've ever done was leave my passport on a bus in toronto two days before christmas. Thankfully I left it on the shuttle bus going to toronto airport and the bus driver had put it in the bus office at the airport. Those 4 hours with out it was one of the most scary in my entire life.

I can imagine... This has really convinced me of the seriousness of keeping it with me at all times. She probably had no idea it was even gone, or where she left it. Hopefully the police or embassy will be able to help her.

At least you were still in canada. I can't imagine being lost in a country I don't know well, with a language I don't understand.
