Holy shit they are so comfortable. Me and Danny Glover, yo.

He got the trail-running ones, I think. I got these ones. They're for both street and trails.

In all seriousness I don't know if anyone here runs, but I'm going to take up barefoot style running. I got major shin splints training last year and this apparently alleviates it. I'll keep you posted as to whether this sucks or not, for anyone who is interested. I'm hoping they aren't too cold for winter.

aren't you not supposed to wear socks with them?

Well I know they exist because my boyfriend wanted to get these shoes at REI in Austin and they employee showed him socks. They were $12 for just ONE pair. That made my boyfriend hesitate on buying the shoes.

Performance socks are expensive anyway! At REI they have like...compression whatever wicking moisture no-toe socks and they're $13 a pair!

You don't need the socks, but I might buy a pair or two of cheap toe socks on Amazon for when it is colder.

I'm getting used to seeing people wearing them. Several of my hippie weirdo friends already own them. I'm actually hoping that they get more mainstream acceptance and such. I hate wearing shoes but flip flops usually stress my arches but most of the choices so far are really ostentatious and not really fit for getting groceries or whatever. I admit though that the new "casual" styles are out and look really odd.

Omg those casual ones. Definitely odd but also oddly attractive. Mitch, if you find a link, send a.s.a.p.

I cannot stand stuff between my toes; hence, no toe-socks for me or these shoes. I can't even stand the flip-flop thing in between my two toes.

shoes have gotten so good they are almost as good as not wearing shoes. technology.

I've seen people run marathons and trails truly barefoot. I don't recommend it. The point of the shoes is to engage all of the proper muscles and tendons in the foot and legs. The stabilizing, squishy running shoe is a bit analogous to running in a cast. Or so the theory goes.

There is a tribe of mexican people that still live in caves, though their numbers are down to about 40,000, and they run like 15 miles every day with only the most basic sandal. They just get drunk off of corn mash or whatever, and then go run in the desert. Some 75 year old dude just ran some record breaking marathony thing from that tribe. They have no health problems, perfect teeth, no cancer ever, their feet and legs and backs are in remarkable health. Crazy stuff.

I don't run anymore but my runner buds all wear these and swear by them. My one friend does 6-10 miles a day in them.

I think I've heard of them. We could run barefoot marathons in our culture if we ran around all the time in bare feet, but we don't. So these kind of help segue us into it, I guess? I'm interested how they have the perfect teeth, no cancer, etc. That's interesting.

I use these for running and it will hurt for the first week or two in muscles you thought couldn't hurt, but after that theyre great.

I remember looking for something and stumbled upon a foot fetish site where people would post photos of celebrities' ankles/feet and users would rate the sexiness of it. It was weird how in depth they went with it.

I was considering those kinds of shoes for hiking and jogging and stuff, but I'd have to learn how to jog the right way and I'm too lazy to.

I've read about these shoes, and they are interesting. The biggest thing when transitioning is not to overdo it, because you'll be working different muscles so you need time to build them up. Hope you have fun with them and they work well.

I used to run around barefoot all the time. Through the woods and everything. You damned city folk are all a-spoiled with your shoein' and learnin' and runnin' water.

I have a really, really hard time time finding shoes that feel comfortable and since I've never liked shoes it's imperative that they feel great right away. Anyway, Merrell's shoes that have vibram soles are the only ones I can put on and go, no breaking in required (which I wouldn't do) so I'm tempted to get a pair of these to wear when I'm walking to and from work, and actually at work. Of course, it's coming on winter and I don't see any that would be good in the rain or snow. Warmth wise anyway. :/
