...I recall many much higher scores in the Lomo contest. I'm getting sorta sick of how often that happens...

I think the score doesn't matter that much for the comps, it's more aboout what the non-threadless judges like.

None of the new tees this week have a score higher than 2.69 - is there nothing that has received a higher score?? I mean, it's nice that not everything is judged on score alone, but then what's the point of scoring stuff??

The previous week was all very high scores I believe. It's not always high, it's not always low.

2.69 is by no means a low score, they used to print below 2.5s, some great ones, but they don't anymore =(

True. Scores have gone up with more people on the site, i think. Way back the scores rarely topped a three, now loads of them do. So much so that a 3+ doesn't mean a print at all.

I can see very well why this one is chosen. Plus, it's a nice change from the usual styles on threadless.

The lack of consistency is refreshing and keeps people guessing. This place would be stale like an old bag of bread if it was predictable.

Also what gumbolimbo said.

I think that this was one of the better lomo subs.

It's less about the score and more about the amount of people who press the $ button. Threadless never at any point say that score is the only thing that they base choosing a design on.

And thank goodness for that.

Doesn't pressing the $ button bump the score up though? Who's going to give a design a 2 or a 3 and at the same time say they'll buy it? Having said that I think It's good that they don't simply print designs with good scores. Popularity doesn't always = good design. Sometimes the people get it wrong.

Nah, I think it just registers as a seperate factor. There was an interesting Blog about this for the shirt "Original Gamester". The staff explained a little bit of the variety in the selection process. Also, you have to consider that with this shirt, Lomo had a say.

I dunno, there's some designs I might score low, but want to own -- especially for a contest. I may feel that the design doesn't represent the contest very well... or maybe I'm not amazed at the design technique or something finicky like that.... but I just stupidly really want to own it. I can be kind of nuts like that. 'course I usually score higher, anyway... the ones I don't like much, I often don't take the time to score. :/ probably not a good system, but there you have it.

All about me
My hope is that my addiction to Threadless tees will cause actual artists (one of whom I am not) to tolerate my incessant presence in the scoring area.

If you're 5'9" or taller, and have a larger than average chest (not that there's anything wrong with that!), do not buy American Apparel girly larges. Get the XL when it's not the Threadless brand. If you have to, you're actually better off with a guys' small in non-Threadless. I have a blogpost about this but it's old and verbose.

I'll make cute little thumbnails of all the designs I own, once I figure out how.
