The reason I'm posting this is that my body seems a bit unusual, because I've gone through a fair amount of trial and error to get a good fit around here.

I'm 5'10", am a D-cup, and would be a size 10 if things that size weren't usually too short for me. (I have to get guys' jeans mostly.) If two or all of these characteristics are true of you, most of the shirts shown in my stupid amount of photos indicate what the girly large size might look like on you. My profile page's first shirt list is of only that size. The second list points out which shirts are other sizes, if you want to check those out too.

Also if your body is sort of like this, when you want to buy a shirt and they're out of girly L's, please heed what I learned too late: a guys' S may fit you much better than a girly M. The sleeves are only slightly winglike; the other aspects of the fit are well worth it.

what may be inconvenient to you, may be very convenient to me, as a place to rest my weary head at night. good day!

The best part of doing kitty rescue was finding out how useful my breasts were for the weary little ones to snuggle into and fall asleep.

the guys smalls fit me terribly because they give no leeway for hips at all.

I like them quite a bit sometimes... it's mostly the combination of them and the height that makes them an issue with clothes fitting me.

Yeah, that's where the height comes in, I guess... My torso might be disproportionately long. I do have to slightly stretch out the bottom of the guys' small for my hips, and I automatically stretch all tees at various points so I might not have taken that into account. But my hips have barely started, at the point where the shirt's hem hits.

for the second paragraph - i find a guy's large works fine, but i also like the longer sleeves

My favorite sleeves are actually on the kids' 12's. They're longer but more fitted than guys' tees. But I only get a 12 if my first 3 options have run out.

Fixed the original post to more accurately describe the conditions under which this "tip" seems likely to be helpful. Sorry for any misleadings in the original.

...er, the sleeves are longer but more fitted, than guys' S or M sleeves. This can be seen in the Time to Babysit pic.

Hey girl! Thanks for the comment on my design "Just a Hop to the Left..."

About this TALL woman thing, at 6'1" and a generous C-cup, I hear you. As for jeans, I've taken to prowling the JC Penney online clearance catalog. They have a boot-cut women's jean that comes in ultra tall and tall AND they frequenly have cords the same cut.

FIT LIKE A GLOVE BABY!

I 've picked up black, tan, olive and peacock colored cords there for $7.99 a pair.

Same here. And I'm 5'10" with a long torso (however, I have rather, er, curvy hips).

I'm surprised you have to buy guys' jeans! I, too, am a size 10, and I've had good luck with Gap jeans, and occasionally some other brands that come in longs.

I'll have to try the JC Penney thing, though - I've never yet found cords that fit properly and are long enough.

Btw, I've been sooooo pleased with the new tees. The other ones were far too short, and medium used to be the one that fitted my curves best, but I often bought larges because they were longer (and then took them in). Now I buy the larges, they fit comfortably but follow my curves, and they're plenty long (even after washing). Hurrah!

the new tees don't fit me very well at all. they are too large everywhere but my chest, and I'm afraid i won't be able to get out of the shirt if I buy and XS...

I have this problem with most clothing though. Buying a swim suit sucks

Dude, thanks!! I need pants and I thought I was gonna have to settle for the Old Navy longs, which still aren't quite right...

lady!

You're right, they're a big improvement. I've gotten some... uh... we can talk about buying used tees, right?... and the old larges are, well, not right. For older stuff I might even prefer the guys' S over girly L.

tess that blows, although at least you can adjust them if you really want to. I'd rather have too much length than not enough. You can't add -- you can mostly just take away. ...Ironically, a couple of transwomen I know have said much the same thing about actual flesh. :)
