This has been a long time in the making but has finally come to fruition.
![]() ![]() In honour of his one year Threadversay I'm pleased to announce a collaboration with the awesome mark722. This is a re-work of his amazing design Where Beauty is Found Our styles/ideas really seem to mesh together and he was super-cool to work with. This is hopefully the first collab of many. I re-drew the design in black pencil crayon to give it a hand-drawn aesthetic more in line with his original sketch, added some additional elements/textures and gave it a new colour palette. Over-size simulated process print for maximum badassness on AA cinder tee. We're hoping everyone digs this as much as we do! :) and if you have time, pretty please with a cherry on top give us some love on: Where Beauty is Foundoriginal: ![]() new version: ![]() ![]() ![]()
Votes and comments much appreciated. :)
![]() I know, it's another dragon. But in all fairness I haven't done one for a while and have shown admirable restraint! Anyway, it has some new techniques I've been experimenting with and I'm hoping people will just dig it for what it is. I think it looks pretty bad-ass as an oversize print on grey. please: ![]() ![]() ![]()
This isn't for Threadless, but a design I did for the band "Protest The Hero". The band member I dealt with was Arif, a super-nice guy who was really helpful, encouraging and also extremely patient because I was way past the deadline on this.
Some people on Emptees were complaining that the type was illegible. Example: Suduo said 2 days ago I don’t think it’s a very effective band tee. Bands want their merch to look cool whilst showcasing their name. In this design, the band name isn’t apparent right off the bat. So I was really worried because I didn't have approval for it yet but then I just found out today the band loves it! So all's well that ends well. :) I did tell them I could do alternate simplified version if they needed it. I'm hoping they'll leave it though because the type is my favourite part and simplifying it would compromise the whole flow of the design. True, it may take a second glance to read but I like things that have a certain mystery and aren't too obvious, to me that's what makes it cool. As for the design, I wanted to do something kind of dark with a classical feel, in the vein of "Memento Mori". The general concept is pretty self-explanatory, that riches, power and glory are an illusion and mortality the great leveler. I also wanted to suggest that this warrior's demise was possibly due to greed and hence the gold coins lying about. The overgrowth of plants signify that life continues and thrives around him after death. I entitled it "Nothing Gold Can Stay" after Robert Frost's poem of the same name. Dec. 15/09 UPDATE: sent them the hi-res psd file yesterday in two separate layers, one for the type and one for the design so it would give them more options. Anyway, even though they love it as is I’ve decided to send them a modified file of the type because one, I’m a perfectionist, two, they’ve been really awesome. The main problem seems to be with the "e" in "Hero". If I fix that everything will be cool I think. Oh, if you have the time please give it some much-needed love at: ![]() It started with some custom type, hand-drawn in black pencil-crayon: ![]() Then added colour/shading in photoshop: ![]() Finished design. Most of this was done over a two day period but was pretty intensive, lost track of how many hours I put into this. ![]() Think this looks pretty rad on the tee! ![]()

This has been something I've been working on in kind of a different style, actually a re-working of an old design. Still a bit concerned about the composition and not sure what elements to add, if any. I was thinking of adding some extra foliage around the TV to break up that square and maybe one more animal, like a rabbit or a turtle. So, what do you think of it so far? Suggestions appreciated. UPDATE: added tortoise and extra plant. Also moved the tree "antennae" down because most TV's don't have them and it was confusing some people. Also compositionally it works much better now I think. Subbed! Thanks so much for all of your wonderful advice and support on this, it helped so much. :) ![]() ![]() ![]() about The Cloud Menagerie
I have a design up for Bestee, "The Cloud Menagerie". It's the only design of mine that's ever won "tee of the day" at Emptees and also my first design printed as a hoodsie! This has to be my favourite design I've ever done, so in case you forgot the Bestees were up for voting (I did until someone reminded me) please consider this! :) VOTE HERE FOR THE CLOUD MENAGERIE BESTEE!

My design for the Threadless Loves Innovation challenge. Working title is "Tree of Invention".
In this design I wanted to combine an old, vintage aesthetic with motifs from both the past and possible future. Innovation is a very broad term but to me brings to mind science, technology and great inventions that have shaped our world. The light bulb fruits are a visual metaphor to suggest the growth of new ideas that lead to innovation and the mechanical beetle and bird are a manifestations of this. Think the best colour for this is AA "sage stone". What a lovely colour, glad it's an option now. UPDATE: subbed :) ![]() ![]() on sage stone: ![]() ![]() Over-sized print: ![]() |
