I spend way too much time doing it. Everything is just so interesting. Of course, you gotta be careful not to take it all as definitive--I've found a lot of mistakes in Wikipedia articles.

Right now, I'm on this kick where I read about extinct animals, which are pretty damn fascinating.

I'll use this blog to post links to articles that interest me. Feel free to do so as well.

I find that the Featured Article is often relevant to my interests as an Australian. It can be very distracting.

I've become so attached to wikipedia that it saddens me when a linked topic doesn't have an article assigned to it yet. like most of Michael McDonald's discography.

keep clicking the link after link after link within the wiki articles and eventually you end up with something pornographic

Hey, Bri-bri, what do you think of the so-called 'two cultures', and the rift between the scienes and the humanities? Do you think there IS such a rift? Do you think there ought to be? Do you think that the rift should be simply of the disciplines, and not in those who practice the disciplines? How much education do you think people ought to have, in terms of various disciplines? Do you think education ought to be more humanistic or utilitarian? Do you privilege science or the humanities or neither? Why? Do you think 'scientism' is a valid concept (as something deterimental) or just a mudslinging tactic? Huh? Huh? HUH?!

This seems a pretty good book about the history of the relationship of science and humanities, but I've only read a few chapters.

Do they tailor the Featured Articles to your location? Are the Americans seeing "I don't remember" under recently featured articles? That's an Australian song that I had already read about on wikipedia. There seems to be a disproportianate number of Aussie articles featured.

Yeah, I read about that book, and it seems like a pretty interesting one.

The weird thing is that, from my perspective, more people have been trying to "censure" or "put-down" art and literature than, say, philosophy and science. The trend goes back at LEAST to Plato, who wanted to oust all of us poets from his perfect City.

There is no fucking way that you surf wikipedia too much! It's part of being a human that makes us sooo curious.

I say there is no such thing as "too much." Go crazy and fill your head with as many ideas as you like. It's fuckin fun!

It's not the curiosity that's the problem, dude; it's the Wikipedia.

Note that we ought always to take the question back to the first cause.

"Thinking in isolation and with pride leads to idiocy."

This blog title reminded me that I dreamt Chris made some long poignant comment in a blog, about life and music and getting older, then ended it with "I still have orgasm in my hair and breakfast in my pants" which was meant to be poignant too but I couldn't figure out how.
