This movie simply sucked. I had extream high expectations for it and it just was not good. 2 hours and 48 minutes of my ass hurting. Sure there was some comedy but it did not live up to the previous 2. There were some good action scenes but the whole plot was incredibly confusing. The ending blew and it was just a shitty movie all together.
Booooooooo.

The first film was passable entertainment but how the sequel managed to make £1 billion in the Box Office is beyond me considering it was a hellva lot worse than the original and is far too long for its own good.

My Brother went to see it last night and said it is more or less the same as the second; some bits are good but most of the film is rubbish.

What is going on with all these threequels? Spider-Man 3, Shrek 3, Pirates 3 are all disappointments.

I disagree pretty much completely with your take on the film. I thought the sequels were way more entertaining than the original, of course they were too long but i thought the ending to the series was quite fitting and pretty awesome....having to wait another ten years to even be with his loved one again is the ultimate sacrifice and bittersweet happy/sad ending, and Jack Sparrow starting over again on a new ship was pretty inspired as well, because no matter what he does he lands on his feet uninjured. There is no way this is the final chapter...they left this one pretty gaping for new things to come about. So, it wasn't great by any means but worth my money and pretty entertaining in its own right. B- but still decent.

The Curse of the Black Pearl... was alright... Dead Man's Chest... pretty much wasted my time... At World's End... Not wasting my time again... probably even worse than the first and second...

Theres a line from the film (said by one of the trading route people) that sums the film up pretty much, I can't remember the exact wording but it follows directly after Jack does something ingenious.

"Do you think he plans it all out, or do you think he just makes it up as he goes along"

The film is pretty good, its just people instantly label a film as rubbish if its not up to the previous ones. There are few films that equal or better the original, obvious few exceptions (which are usually planned in advance)

However, yes its too long and yes its too convoluted. But still worth my £4.50 to watch.

I enjoyed the character that Depp played as Jack Sparrow in the first film simple because I found him to be enjoyable but had a few secrets within him; a mysterious person in other words.

However, in Pirates 2, all the hard work Depp did to build up the character in the first went to waste by being completely over the top and nothing like the person we knew in the original.

The second film to me was just an excuse to show off the state of the art special effects and action sequences thus leaving the story and character development sitting in the backseat.

I might see it but after moaning so much about how long Pirates 2 went on for and that the third is just as long, I probably wait until the DVD comes out.

You paid £4.50 to watch Pirates 3?!

It costs me £6.80 to watch just about any film at my cinema and don't get me started on the price of a (small!) bottle of water...

You honnestly think pirates three is bad? right now I'm hoping they'll make a fourth one, which they said they'll only do if they come up with a good enough story and they already have the starting elements.

I loved the Davy Jones locker scenes. And Jack somewhat going loopy throughout.

Overall, I liked it a lot. It was too confusing, but I like an occasional gobbledy gook of tricky wordplay and unneccesry plot points.

I liked it.

£4.50 = NUS (student discount), so okay yeah I went out to lunch and stuff before and some drinks after, but I do that anyway. The trick is not to buy their food and drink, thats where they really rip you off.

Sure the first film was amazing and 10/10

Overall though the 3rd is still a solid 7 or 8/10

the special effects alone in the second one made it worthwhile. The third one is supposed to deliver in that area, so I think I'll be viewing sometime soon.

It depends on what exactly you were hoping for- kick ass fighting scenes, hell yeah they had that, amazing special effects to the point where you couldnt tell what was real and what was fake (well... cant totally agree with everything, there were certain flaws that I noticed with the fx) but overall that was completely amazing. You wanted all the questions answered that were brought up in the second movie, yeah you got it.

and i agree with fricken with the ending.

but i will admit there were bits and pieces that had just seemed to be thrown in there for fun (like jacks daddy) but hell who cares? I dont see how the movie sucked

I liked the third one! I mean, all three movies follow a similar formula and you can either choose to criticize it or embrace it for what it's supposed to be - a fun, campy, over-the-top popcorn movie.

The third did a good job of wrapping up the story for some characters while leaving it open for potential sequels for others (although I hope they wait awhile for that). And as always, it's just a delight to watch Depp, Rush, Nighy and company ham it up and really have more fun on screen than any other actors around today.

^I agree with all of the above Julie said. And 700, PLEASE don't put too much hope into a Transformers movie helmed by the man who turned the events of Pearl Harbor into a shitty, distant love triangle with shots depicting apple pies and Americans being blown to bits like he was shooting a porno flick.

I fourth film is starting to look likely, the writers run a website were they attempt to help people learn to be script writers and it has a messageboard.

If you go on the message board and post theories about a fourth film, they delete the blog and you are left a message that says If Ted and Terry read theories it makes these ideas less valuble to them and so can not be used.

So there at the very least attempting to write another one.
