I read a really interesting article about twitter today.
Basically what it said was that while most of the updates are mundane whats interesting is the picture you build up of a person, people have been able to tell when someone is going to get a promotion or when they've been feeling sick.
But whats also been happening is self organising gatherings, that is one person posts that he's going to see a band play and friend see's that post and decides to go as well, that friend posts it on his twitter then suddenly you have a group of people going to a show despite the fact that no one has invited each other.
i just can't understand the point of using twitter unless it's for a small business or something. do people really think all the mundane things they do interests others/and are other people really that interested?
it makes me a bit sad or something, i dunno. twitter bothers me.
Well yeah but what I'm saying is the person didnt plan on inviting all the people that showed up, maybe he called just a few people left the post on twitter and more people showed up.
i joined twitter about a year and a half ago, and none of my friends were on there, so it seemed really stupid. then all of a sudden, a bunch of my RL friends joined, and then threadless people, and now i have fun with it. i find it entertaining, and not a whole lot different than chatting somewhere like here, except that you are limited to 140 characters.
Ginette surely that can be said of all blogging culture, there are some people that have become famous for being celebrity bloggers.
Theres a guy called Danny Choo, he films himself dancing around tokyo dressed as a storm trooper but now he has an entire website devoted to the anime he's watching, stuff he's buying and the idols he likes.
He updates his twitter alot and he's one of the most followed people on the net but if it wasnt for the fact that he danced in a storm trooper costume and was very good at using self promotion tools (thats what twitter and blogging is) he wouldnt be famous, no one would care.
it's just one more electronic messaging service i don't need, thinking about it gives me a headache! i can't wait till i get fed up enough with all of it to delete my facebook and shit. what an annoying world this is! there's too many things to check and not enough alone time. speaking of...
ginette twitter: thinking about scheduling some alone time away from the computer in 20 minutes.
yeah i see what you mean. i've abandoned my facebook and myspace, so i only use twitter and gmail, other than the threadless blogs. i think i would kill myself if i had to keep up with more than that.
