For those of you who've never been to one it's basically two teams of girls on roller skates doing their best to pummel each other into oblivion.

I'm told there's some rules and a process for keeping score but near as I can tell these things are largely irrelevant when weighed against a couple of dozen roller skaters in teeny tiny shorts heading out to do battle.

The evening was full of all the usual spectator sport events insofar as we jostled for seats and spent roughly two thirds of the evening in the line to get beer and food.

All in all though if you get the chance I'd highly recommend checking out a game. It appears to be one of those sports that you can get in to and yell and scream for a couple of hours without being bothered to work out what the rules are and how it's played.

Though maybe the teeny shorts had something to do with that.

I only wish I'd worn Derby of the Damned along.

PS: Melbourne's lesbian community were also out in force showing their support for the event so it's probably not a bad place to meet some nice lesbian wymyn if that's your thing.

Does anyone know of a free program (shareware or freeware I guess) that will allow me to slice up an Avi file into smaller clips?

Thanks in anticipation.

So I'm writing this blog to cement Leon's theory that I'm a total princess, here we go:

I have a friend.

A female friend.

We've been friends for a while and while nothing has ever happened; there's always been a certain tension between us but that's about it.

She got drunk a few weekends ago and propositioned me and while I made all the usual "respect you as a friend and don't see you that way" kind of noises things seem to have changed since then.

It's worth noting that I'm a fairly tactile guy so I hug a lot and generally have a fair amount of physical contact between myself and my friends (regardless of their gender etc etc) but recently contact with this girl seems to have taken on a weird undertone.

She does things that seem a little presumptuous physically given that we're just friends.

Now normally I'd just sit her down and set her straight but she's fairly high strung and she doesn't take rejection well and I'm a little worried that I might lose my friend if I confront her about it.

Can someone help me out?

Or at least it is on this side of the time/date line.

Happy birthday man.

Oh, and pay no attention to that Tyrone thing, that's how we all think of you.

. . . which is pretty cool.

They look lovely and they smell nice and they're giving me the urge to find someone and fulfil all of their pornographic fantasies.

Which means they're working I guess.

I put them in a giant beer stein because I do not own a vase. So you can stop all of your emasculating jibes right now.

In all seriousness though, thanks heaps Lady 'Zoop for the birthday present. I hope your net connection gets fixed so we can chat again soon.

By way of a warning this blog is probably going to be completely self indulgent. I'm writing this after getting back from a party and it may just be total drivel; read on at your own peril and don't say I didn't warn you.

I guess I'm writing this mainly to cement this moment in my mind before it fades away into some other place.

To provide some background information I've been fairly sick this year, I got a case of Glandular Fever and it really knocked me around. I've been recovering steadily and while the bad stuff is mostly over I've still been feeling a bit flat.

My life for the past few months has pretty much consisted of working and sleeping and feeling generally pretty sorry for myself.

So tonight I went out to a friend's house warming party, I probably shouldn't have but I kind of needed to get out of the house and clear my head space.

I probably danced a bit harder than I should have but it was really nice to be out doing something positive with my body again.

Most of the people I know from Melbourne were there and it was really nice to catch up with all of the friends that I've been neglecting over the last few months. It probably shouldn't come as a surprise but it was really nice to see all the people that I love and care about and spend some time with them like we did before I got sick - nothing had changed except our circumstances.

It's nice to know that I have a group of friends who love me and care about me and who wander around with my best interests in their hearts.

Next to that all the things that have been really worrying me (taking too much time off work, bills, work stress) don't seem like such a big deal and I can't help but feel I've been working myself up over nothing.

That stuff seems easy to let go of.

My friends are ace. I hope you all are lucky enough to have friends like mine too.

I just got the email notifying me about your print (actually I got it late last night but I didn't check my email until now).

Congrats on the lavender name and the shiny shiny shield.

Does it feel any different to be an alumni?
