So, this shirt looks great, but before I buy one and walk around town wearing it I wouldn't mind having some idea what is says. Any pointers?

I'm French so I understand everything but it's poetry and therefore really hard to translate...

The big letters in the middle means "Utopia. Desire. Soul"

" Les Lettres nourrissent l'ame, la rectifient, la consolent"

means "Letters feed the soul, correct it and comfort it". It's a quote from Voltaire, a French philosopher.

it's a lot of aphorisms too.

(Warning--these translations are going for meaning, not style)

"être riche c'est savoir se contenter de ce que l'on"

Being rich is being content with what one has

"dans un monde idéal l'humanité n'existerait pas"

in an ideal world, humanity wouldn't exist

Another rough translation: "La mort c'est le meilleur moment de la vie; c'est pour cela qu'il est preferable de le garder pour le fin." Not sure the source, but it means "Death is the best moment in a life; that's why it's saved for last." =) They all seem a lot prettier in french (the one's I can figure out), though.

Actually the one you translated Peppermont would be more like " Death is the best moment in life; that's why it's better to keep it for the end". And I think it's Desproges.
