Up
Anybody else see UP then have to come home and think really long and hard about how they are living their life?

but judging from the contents of your initial post it sounds like there may be parts to make me feel depressed, and hopefully that is not the case.

there are very few movies that have made me rethink my life.

I've heard that Up was good, but I doubt it will make me reformulate my life.

I've had a few that made me re-think my life, Weatherman comes to mind first, but I know there's been more.

Anyone didn't see Up yet and will be bugged at having to think about at what part in the movie will they have to think about this when they're seeing it?

Also, its pretty amazing how impossible it is for Pixar to make a movie that doesn't suck.

Oh wait. I worded that wrong. I mean they never make a movie that sucks.

Any movie with Nicolas Cage generally makes me rethink my life.

EVERYONE has been raving about this movie. What exactly is all the hype about? As a pixar film, I'm sure it'll be good but when a bunch of people my age are telling me to go see it (but I don't want to) there must be something different than other pixar films.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Funny like Pixar movies usually are, but the message is way stronger than any of the other movies, and it comes right in the beginning, but you're reminded of it throughout.

Overall I think I still like Finding Nemo and the short that came with it my favorite Pixar, but this is probably #2.

Tiki - I think the difference is, it's a strong Pixar movie as per usual, but it really has a strong sort of connection with more adult questions and struggles than the others, so I think it hits as awesome like the rest but then goes the extra mile to be meaningful.

I haven't seen it yet, but I heard that it's not unusual when you're in the theater to hear a five-year-old behind you ask, "Mommy, why are you crying?" Adult themes that go over kids' heads. I'm really excited to see it, hopefully I can do that soon!

I think that it's hard to explain what the hype is about without seeing it. Otherwise you run the risk of spoiling it. There are some adult themes but not in a way that will ruin the movie for kids, they just won't get parts of it in the way that adults will. It does definitely make you think about what really and truly is important in your life. Plus there is a big goony bird and talking dogs. Nuff said.

Cars came pretty dang close, but other than that, i completely agree with you. I repeatedly have said Pixar should be the only ones allowed to make computer animated movies, all the rest are pretty much child's play.

And yes, this film made me well up a couple times, major lump in the throat time here. And holy shit, it has the best excuse for talking animals in an animated film ever!

I also love how every Pixar movie has a different message and theme that really resonates over and over again and is so useful in life and really a good lesson for children and adults alike.

Saw it last night, and I have never heard a full theater as quiet as it was after the prologue. No one was even breathing.

What a beautiful piece of filmmaking.

Yeah I thought Cars was gonna blow hard before I saw it. But it was likable, and I couldn't say it sucked. I haven't seen Wall-E yet, but I thought it was pretty daring to have half the movie without dialogue, but I heard they pulled that through. I think with the status they're at right now, they can get financed to make any kind of movie they want and they're just experimenting with different ways to tell stories and express emotions while still being palatable for kids and adults.

And about Pixar needing to be the only one to make computer-animated movies, did you hear what Jack Black said at the Oscars?
