Threadless

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I'm not loving the switch from American Apparel shirts to "Threadless shirts" that these new tees are going on. The latter doesn't fit nearly as nice as the former, the sleeves are way longer and make a sort of mini-wing at the armpit that that would make Spider-man or a flying squirrel jealous, and the neckline is wide on the shoulders but the ring around the neck itself is thin and strange-looking.

I noticed this when I received my "Spiritual Symphony Fin" shirt--at first, I thought that I had received one of those mislabeled shirts that had popped up. Sure, one mistake I wouldn't mind, and I kept the shirt. Then the recent batch I ordered during the 2-Cool-4-School sale were the exact same shirts.

Now, I don't think I'm ever going to buy a Threadless shirt unless it's printed on American Apparel. Unfortunately, that also means that I won't be getting any of the new prints--but it's better than feeling like I was cheated out of an extra $2 (I liked it better when all the shirts were $10 during sales and actually looked good on me).

@ edit - I'm pretty petite--I'm used to ordering medium on the old tees, so maybe I should order small on the Threadless ones? I'll order one and see if that solves the problem.

Yeah the girly threadless tees kinda suck.

Guys ones don't bother me.

We should do a petition to get them to make different girly tees.

i totally understand the bangladesh argument but i don't understand how they fit different. they seem to fit me the same as the old shirts..

maybe i'm just deformed?

I love the new girly tees. They're have a more girly shape with a curve at the waist and I personally think the sleeves are much better. The thin neckline band is not a trait of all the new tees. It is just something that happens once in awhile I think since only 1 of my threadless brand tees have that.

Overall though the threadless is a huge improvement for girls with a curvier shape. AA was all straight and tiny and boxy.. and those cap sleeves were so tiny and tight I almost thought they'd cut off my arm circulation :P

oh that's too bad.

I prefer AA to the new threadless shirts. The material is thinner, they seem to be shorter and wider and they can become misshapen after washing.

I definitely prefer AA to the new shirts, but they're still a million times better than FOTL, so I guess I'm still grateful.

ginette - the new shirts do fit me differently, only certain colors fit well. but that was the same with the AA shirts too.

that's weird!

i also just realized that most of the shirts i own are oldish selects so i may not even have a threadless brand one yet ( i think?)

the older shirts were too short for me though, so i like the longer length of the new shirts.

the new girly shirts fit me sooo much better. the AA girly ones seem like they are made for little boys with no curves. i have hips and bewbs, so the cut of the threadless girly is so much more flattering and comfortable.

I generally like the new threadless shirts, but I notice also that certain colors fit better. I like the neckline a lot better & the way the sleeves fit. The Octadecapus shirt seemed longer that normal (more room for the tentacles I guess)

Anyways, I am sorry to hear that your new shirts dont fit you as well as you would like :(

The New Threadless brand shirts are very very bad compared to AA!! I agree with Tonteau!!!

agree with threadless shirt hate, especially when it comes to girly shirts. Do not like thin collar, and... I don't know, if I wanted to wear something shapely, I wouldn't wear a t-shirt. I don't like the cut or material. It's not amazingly softer than AA or anything. I'd welcome the change back, but I'd prefer threadless found a way to make their own shirts better. Even my guys shirts lately have had annoyingly baggy sleeves and weird neck fits.

Also: booo side seams

i'm an AA fan too - prefer the quality, and i like the fit (and neck).

but, i like what threadless prints. so i guess i'm just gonna get what they offer - the shirts aren't so bad that i won't order them.

I love the threadless tees, they fit my curves perfectly.

the threadless neck-holes are what I'm not liking, IDK, they feel tighter than before? some I just have to cut off, while others just don't feel right.

Also - boo thinner and side seams.

ick.. i think the threadless neckholes are much looser than the AA ones. And I hated that thick feeling that the AA shirts have. Thinner is much better and the side seams add great shape... I can actually fit my chest in a shirt and not have it all nasty and baggy around my waist.. or vice versa fit my waist and have the AA shirts constrict my chest giving me an unflattering uni-boob...

lordog on Sep 07 '08 at 5:36pm
^^ yes exactly...the AA ones are all tight around my chest (i have to make fists under my shirt to stretch them out enough), and then leave this strange gaping area underneath. the threadless ones allow boobage space, and then flow nicely to a fitted waist.

I gotta admit I really like the new ones - I like the thinner material and the slightly better fit - I was worried they would be all tight n stuff but they are all good.

I'm a fan of both. I just love how long the new girls shirts are!

one thing that depresses me is my girly XL AA tees shrunk a little too short

now I feel weird wearing all of them except like 2:(

With my 2nd batch of new tees I have found I like them a lot more. I like the material better, and the fit. The only thing that bothers me is how the sleeves are longer, but I do like how they fit snugger (the sleeves).

I don't have any new threadless tees yet (they're in the mail), but I think I like the sounds of them... more room for boobs and longer in length.

Those would be the two minor complaints I have about AA girly's...

I prefer AA's fabric! Threadless tee will out of shape after FEW wash, this make me sad cos i love threadless's designs so much!

And don't even think of getting a Threadless tee near a dryer. I have never had a shirt brand shrink as bad as Threadless shirts do. The side seams are kind of tacky and the neck lines are inconsistant. Sometimes they are snug and sometimes they are stretched...and sometimes they morph after a wash.

I keep saying I will not bother with them anymore but unfortuantly the lure of the designs keeps me coming back. I'm just a lot more critical of whether I will buy a design now. I have to REALLY like it to buy.
