Recreating Ugly Business Card - Need Help

The client is insistent that he wants it exactly like this.

So how was the cloud like blurred mess made behind the text and image?

i think you should ask the client that in those exact words. then maybe they will see how other people see their card.

ps. my guess would be clip out the photo then use a white brush with feathered edges behind the image in photoshop.

Initial thoughts is that it looks like some sort of zoom blur, but the name down the bottom threw me a bit. I sometimes get requests like this and what's "exactly the same" to you and me, turns out to be that picture, red white and blue and a san serif font to the client.

I'd also suggest putting a medium amount of effort into a new kick-butt designed card that you accidentally show him when you finish this one up.

Jesus. I've had situations like this but nothing this bad. He's being totally unreasonable if he can't supply you the original artwork and expect you to create an exact replica.

Best guess like quick-brown-fox mentioned is that they did a zoom blur on white letters then went around it with a low sensitivity liquify, and if that doesn't work BLLLLLUUUUUUUUURRRRRR evertyhing.

i just found a brush that was similar and no he is only paying $35.... thats what my boss charged for this mess
