lol, so many people get their knickers in a knot over even artistic nudes. I understand a dislike of the verging-on-pornagraphic images with big breasts and bums, etc. But I have seen some lovely, albeit nude, designs getting a really odd reaction. Well, the new competition and this perception of nude=naughty theme that pervades threadless led me to create this design:
Nude isn\\\'t Naughty - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

I am not sure how it will go, but for the particulary body-squeemish I did not include a huge amount of detail around the parts of the body that people exclaim about. But she is most definitely NOT wearing clothing. And she is doing so in a tasteful way. Nude isn't Naughty.

Bizarre proportions, however, are.

And the reason people go nuts is that Threadless purchasers are as young as 13. And lots of people are sensitive about letting their kidlets see n00ds.

hmmm...well, the only problem I have with this is that it's very messy looking and doesn't look like you tried that hard on it. So it doesn't really look like an "artistic nude" it looks like a sort of sloppy doodle. And, in a sense, it kind of goes against the point you're trying to make since it's not very "artistically" done.

I am fine with people not liking the style. Do something better. I know it can be done (I am no-where near a great artist, I see great work, I know what it is. I also have problems discussing what I want with the computer). I can't use computer programs to draw (not at all good at it) so I make do with drawing by hand and scanning.

I happen to like this one, which is why I put it up. For me it is good.

I wanted it a little out of proportion to what would be considered normal, it gives it a bit more interest. It is more realistic than a popular girls' doll *cough* barbie *cough* and that doll matches the proportions of one in every 2 million women (or something like that).

As for 13 year olds seeing a nude:
1) human body nothing to be sheltering anyone from (like I said earlier, with the exception of overtly pornagraphic images).
2) they have one (human body) themselves.
3) take said teen to an art gallery. No, really. The teen will be better for it. Should they resist just tell them: "Culture: get some." Trust me, somewhere there will be at least one nude.

PuterBoy: lol. That is it exactly :-)

I know Bowtie, i agree with you on this issue (and i also agree with what Jpiatt says about your attempt at a statement on this issue), but the unfortunate fact is that the 13 year olds might understand this, but the teachers and principle at their junior and regular high schools won't base their suspension of the student based on artistic intent and merits. I have no intention of anything i do slogan-wise or collab-wise aimed at such a young population....if they wanna come up and meet me that's fine, but i refuse to make ugly and sloppy-looking kiddie giraffes and animal fire brigades to appease that audience. I agree tho- too many kids have been trained to be knee-jerk about this issue. I blame religion (christianity and islam the most), but there's a zillion other restraints in society that try to tell you that anything naked = porno central.
