My friends,

I've read a number of blogs here in recent weeks where otherwise sane people have suggested that someone responsible for a winning slogan should be given Alumni status, more money and more attention.

BALDERDASH.

Let's face it. In the end, no matter how witty your slogan may be, people will not wear it unless it is converted to an attractive design by a talented designer at Threadless. It's all about design. NOT the slogan. If it was all about the slogan itself, then why wouldn't Threadless just print the slogans in Arial Black and one ink color?

It doesn't work that way, my friends. The way I see it, Threadless shouldn't even credit the person who came up with the slogan. This site is about design. Slogan creators should be given $100 or so and walk away happy. That's it. If they really want to be Alumni and win big money, they should start focusing on design. That's why people come here.

A slogan creator should never be viewed on the same level as a brilliant designer like, say GLENNZ. It's just not fair and it's simply ludicrous to even suggest otherwise. Remember that.

Let's end the discussion once and for all.

-Lester Francis

I love you to Fretszy! Yeah, you're totally right! This site is all about whatever you want it to be about , and if you say it's all about design, you must be right!

Like for instance, the orgasmic attachment you have to Glennz, there's no concept behind his works, just DESIGN!!!! Just like there's no concept behind slogans, just its DESIGN!!!! You could just put random letters up on a tee and with the proper type treatment, EVERYONE would print it!

I also see slogans are so easy to make that you have thousands you have contributed to the pot. Good work Mr.!

And whats your opinion on collabs, I'm dying to hear how little amount of talent i have...get to it yo!

Some of the slogan tees are indeed clever. However, the people who "came up with" these phases seem to be demanding a spotlight that they don't deserve. If they had submitted a design of the slogan (which is all that matters in the end) then by all means, they shold be given Alumni status.

The wonderfully talented Danrule is an example of someone who created a design around a slogan to create something spectacular. THIS is what slogan tees should strive to be:

There's a BIG difference between submitting a sentence and DESIGNING a sentence into something greater.
fatheed

That's not a slogan, though Lester. That's an age-old phrase about minimalism that is being parodied through the ostentasious design.

Quick question when a person designs the slogan to they get paid too?

I'm pretty sure they don't work for free.
fatheed
   fatheed on Dec 01 '09 at 8:23am
That is easily one of the best Type tee designs on Threadless.

Perfect slogan design as far as I'm concerned - I'm really not a fan of the heavily illustrated type tees.

Although - for an English language themed design it's STILL incorrect! It should he 'Haiku are easy'. The plural is Haiku.

I tend to lean more to Lester on this one, actually (although the comments about everything having to be about 'design' are a bit ridiculous). I don't mean that sloganeers should get paid less or anything, I think what we get is fair, but I don't think we should get much more recognition than the little boxes on our pages. The Alumni earn their shields, they put serious time into their work. I've put maybe a minute total into the three slogans I've had printed. Threadless is fair in what they give you. If they wanted to give more, I wouldn't complain, of course, but I can't complain about what I already get, either.

His named is Lester Francis he has two last names. Nobody with two last names should be taken seriously. Oh shit Ross is a common last name. I never say anything seriously so my argument remains valid.

I'm not sure what you mean. I specifically said that people shouldn't get paid less for slogans. Right at the top, even.
