Should an artist be judged by his myspace?

I saw some cool paintings today at the salon while getting my hair did. So I picked up the dude's card and googled his name and came across his myspace. He's friends with all these playboy bunny-looking frat girls and the song on it sucked.

Now I feel less inclined to like his stuff.

Yeah. I'm shallow.

Too bad I can't find his paintings to post.

we're judged by the sum of our parts. Unless we're overweight or don't adhere to the standard model of beauty, in which case that's what we're judged by so we don't judge by the sum, just the parts.

Places fire over myspace pages, I can see it making you like a person's work less. I hate finding out personal stuff of my favorite artists because of that. When I find out they're a douche, I'm inclined to not want to support the douchiness.

A decent sized chunk of the the world's most lauded artists were probably up to some fairly sordid stuff with various comparables of their day. The choice is yours, if buying a painting by this guy will remind you constantly of the playboy girl types, then it's maybe a good idea not to purchase one.

That's why nobody likes my artwork. I'm a douche. Anyway, yeah, finding out an artist is a complete dick, or stupid or anything like that sometimes ruins their work for me. Judging by myspace is a good way to find that stuff out. So yeah, judge away.

Unfortunately, a lot of people in general are douches so it's inevitable that some artists are vaginal cleansing products as well. I'll still listen to The Police and The Smiths even thought the lead singers in both are known for being narcissistic. I just try to ignore it and enjoy the product of their lameness :-P
