That's what she said...

Anyway, I've always wanted to learn to make sweaters, cute plushies, slippers, etc.

Can you knit? Is it something I can teach myself?

This is how I do it:

1. Google Sweaters
2. Go to first link
3. Find Sweater
4. Buy Sweater
5. Wait
6. Wear Sweater

Sorry, I'm no help.

when i wanted to learn how to knit i started by watching this lady:

she's kind of annoying but it was a good start, and from there i learned more from other blogs and books, and have made some really nice things.

I find knitting really hard and exhausting. I get really tense when I'm doing it, expending a lot of energy on keeping myself focused and then more on top of that to keep my tightness even. I get muscle cramps and headaches if I spend too long at it. :(
I do however quite enjoy crochetting. :)

Thanks everyone! I think I might buy a little starter kit and see what I can do.

ISA you should come play art with the hubs and your wife can teach me to knit!

I love knitting; like Joe said, Ravelry is my go-to site. I could spend all day on there. It isn't a hard thing to learn, though I found that I made loads of errors the first time I knit. I was just knitting a square to get the hang of things but it ended up a trapezoid because I was adding a stitch at the beginning of every row without realizing it. :) I knit to relax. Have you played with the kit yet???

If there is a local yarn shop near you, you should check them out and see if they hold classes or just a knit night; my knitting friends and I all met at a LYS in 2004 and even when the shop closed we all kept meeting every Wednesday night. We alternate houses and stuff and it's a lot of fun. They all taught me how to knit. :)

I haven't played with anything yet, just looked at the instruction book. I'm excited to get started, gonna go get some yarn this weekend.

That sounds like a lot of fun with the knitting club. :)

Maybe I'll post pics if I make any progress.
