Selling the Vanagon = sad Ethan...

So, the time has come for me to sell my beloved Vanagon. It is a beautiful van, fun to drive, and with lots of space.

I can comfortably drive around 9 people, which comes in handy as I'm usually the designated driver for my friends when we go out on the weekends.

It is also a 1986 VW, which means the mainenance is a bitch. The guy who offered to buy it from me used to work at the shop where I take it, and always told me to call him first if I wanted to sell it. And now I do. He's coming to look at it in the morning, driving almost 100 miles to see it, so I know he's serious.

It is in pretty good shape, but I wouldn't call it mint.

No, , I can't afford a Prius. I just need something that requires less upkeep. I'm looking at older 4Runners, I still need to carry sign materials.

Hey Professor, It's just a suggestion....but I used to have an Element for all my sign stuff and it worked out AWESOME! I could put my ladder, an 8' plank, 2 trash bins, my tool box, and all the graphics in it no problem.

Yeah, Elements are pretty cavernous. Unfortunately, my price cap is around 5 grand, so choices are slim. I'll look up some older ones online and see what I come up with.

When I bought the Vanagon it was narrowed down to that or a silver '88 240 wagon. I'm glad I got the Vanagon. It's been so much fun.

So the Vanagon finally sold today. Paul had looked at it, liked it, hemmed and hawed, shuffled his feet, made an offer, and came to pick it up today.

After watching it drive off to South Carolina and thinking I'd never see it again, Paul called about 15 minutes later saying he'd run out of gas on the freeway and could we possibly bring him a gallon...

Ah, memories.
