Prepare for an incoherrent rambling. I won't buy an iPod because I fear that it will keep me from buying CDs and , in turn, destroy the music industry as we know it. My first purchase of music was an 8-track of Blondie at a yard sale when I was 6. My little mind could not wrap around the fact that I had just bought the first bit of the soundtrack of my memories on the crappiest medium for music that has ever been invented. Onward I went to the cassette tape, scoffing at the older music crowd complaining about the vinyl to tape transfer with the whole "Yeah, they'll get over it" attitude only the youth can get away with.(I later became a vinyl lover, probably a regression of guilt). Finally the adaption to CD, my third (actually fourth) means of ownership of all music that I held dear to my heart. Oh, how I have amassed an obscene amount of audio art on this format.Ugh, I don't know where I'm going with this. HEAR ME WORLD, I DON'T LIKE IPODS!

I need an iPod... you wanna help me buy one?...haha no, actually I do want one now, after saying I'd never get one, just because, in the long run... it's cheaper.

ehhh I stil buy a lot of cds when I have money but for convenience I have my ipod . I tend to take a lot of long walks and hated carrying around a smaller book of cds so that I had more then one thing to listen too.

I don't really need an ipod or other portable mp3 player.

I'd rather buy a CD than download it. I like actually owning something. Also, I like reading liner notes and looking at the artwork.

Are you a fat white guy or republican? If so, these feelings are normal.

in my opinion the cds are not what should be making recording artists money. the tours and live shows are what should make them money. theres no reason an artist should do 3 days of work and become a multi millionaire

wullagaru is right. I love to buy cd's but they aint no good for on the way to work.

We should keep both and dance more.

plus mp3 stuff is making music more throw away - people just download on etrack as opposed to a whole album. some music needs several listenings to get into fully.

this is too heavy I might start crying soon.

yeah, the iPod thing makes me guilty. But I couldn't live without it. I do still buy cds, and play records, and play cassettes

I have an iPod, but I still buy all my CDs, never illegally download.

Personally, I think the music industry as we know it needs to be destroyed. I don't like Record Labels or Producers or Image Consultants. I don't like the industry of art. It dilutes and perverts the medium. I don't approve of illegally downloading things, but I think it's hilarious that Labels are losing money over it. After years of price gouging I'm not even partially sympathetic.

Also, the death of physical media means several good things: a huge reduction in wasted plastic, marginal decrease in our dependence on oil, and it's a lot harder to lose your music.

i have to say i love cds, and i have a gigantic collection
but mp3s and ipods make it easier for artists to get out there
and it cuts down on all sort of pollution from production that kills the environment
MrDomino-
i agree cds are way over priced, but the artists could never get the money to get recognized without some kind of sponsor. not all producers are greedy pigs
we could do without the image consultants...
