about Spoilt
I don't normally post about Threadless shirts, but this one is truly malicious. If anywhere, it belongs on T-Shirt Hell, not Threadless.

why does everyone hate this shirt? I think it's amazing haha

I don't get why you hate it? Did it give a plot away for you?

I don't get why everyone is up in arms over this shirt. When you're walking down the street, most people aren't going to be able to read it fast enough.
ducttapeavenger
ducttapeavenger on May 21 '07 at 1:18pm
I've seen most of these movies already, but it will ruin a lot of good movies for a lot of people.

I guess no one stops walking long enough to chat with a friend, eat lunch, or pick up a movie rental.

icebar on May 21 '07 at 1:22pm
if people wouldn't read it as you say, then there's no point in wearing it.

and if they do read it, it spoils movies for them. hence the title "spoilt". this shirt is annoying but it's alright i suppose...

if you haven't seen the movie you can't know the movie that the spoiler is about (well most of them)

You're absolutely right, this shirt sucks. I would get smacked if I wore this into my local video store, and I would thank them for it.

I think it's hilarious, but I guess that's only because I've seen most of these films...

Most of these reside in pop culture more than anything anymore. This is a well designed shirt I think and apparently a lot of other people thought so too when scoring it. I bet half the people complaining don't even care, they are just trying to milk this for attention.

I don't usually spout out on these message boards but I feel pretty strong on this one.

Even though this shirt is called "spoilt" and may have been originally intended to do just that, I see this shirt as a huge inside nudge to those of us that have seen these classic flicks. I know that there is a book on here and one or two newer movies but for the most part these are old standards for pop culture fan like me. Frankly they have been around long enough that if you haven't seen them or have heard the ending by now, you probably don't intend to or have been living in a cave.

I can tell you now that 9 times out of ten the reaction you'll get from this shirt is "Oh cool!! I've seen that one and that one and that one.....and I love that one!!" not "fuck you dude! you ruined it for me." The kind of people that would bother to stop and read this shirt, have already seen all of these many times over. It is a conversation starter. Some pop culture junkie will see it and say "I love that movie!" and you'll say "me too! Didn't love when....." and you have just made a new friend. That is what this kind of shirt is all about. Knowing what kind of people you are meeting before you even open your mouth. If people start talking about movies over it, that is a person I want to talk to. If by the slim chance they get pissed over it than they take life way to serious for me to enjoy their company. Besides most of these you have to know the movie before you know what they are talking about. You have to have seen "Wicker man" to even know what "the villagers sacrifice the policeman" means.

I know I went on a bit but I do believe that this is in the vain of this web site. FUN!"

"it will ruin a lot of good movies for a lot of people"

Yes, because "The Wicker Man", "The Village", "300", and "Harry Potter" are cherished classics that are now ruined. If you hadn't seen the movie, you wouldn't even GET any of it. And who hasn't seen star wars, the sixth sense, and episode of lost, fight club, harry potter, or planet of the apes? If you haven't, I'm afraid they've already been spoiled for you by running jokes years ago. Or have you been living in a cave?

agentfuzzy07 on May 21 '07 at 5:34pm
I've had friends who have spoiled things faster for me than this. Seriously. Blood Diamond, Aviater, Fight Club, Fried Green Tomatoes, 1984, Invisible Man...

Compared to my friends, this shirt says nothing.

Now do I think they're malicious? No. Maybe I get p-o.ed-- maybe, but like most people, hopefully, it does not have a lasting impact on my life. Or my day.

the phenomena that is the reaction to this shirt is so ridiculous -

But it was the point of the shirt - so I guess it is doing it's job well

Err...No one has seen the Harry Potter film referenced. It hasn't been made yet. The book (#6) was released two years ago. Film #5 comes out in July.

The tshirt could have 'spoiled' the first book/film and gotten the same mileage as the other references.

Oh please....

Oh and I haven't seen at least two or three of the movies listed (wicker man, 300 and Donnie Darko), I might actually go see them now because they were brought to my attention. It's not like who took this summers blockbusters and ruined the ending. Most of these are classics and true fans know. Please.

If knowing the ending to a movie made you never want to watch it, then why would anyone buy a movie vs rent it. Sure it takes a little fun out of the first time, but if a movie/book/whatever is good then it should merit your attention either way. And for the record I'm apparently a hermit and have never seen half these movies, though like Mel I may now rent a few of them
