Dear Threadless:

I love you. Seriously, I do. But . . .

Why are the girlie XL's so sooooo small?

I feel paranoid. Is it to ensure Threadless will only adorn our cute waifey friends? I can't believe that's true. It must be that we haven't made you hear us.

Please understand, Threadless. It isn't easy for us girls to talk about this. While we openly rebel against society's constraints, we still cower before Fashion's Skinny Eye.

Do you know I've chafed my beautiful swervey hips, switching pants and skirts over and over, tryin' to find just the right height waistband to go with my Flowers In the Attic girlie?!

These are XL's of which we speak. But they would barely fit a 12 year old, not to mention a SIZE 12.

I am not fat. And I know for a fact I'm not the only female who feels this way about your Girlie T's. About OUR Girlie T's.

Please, Threadless, give our bosom a little space. We have big hearts. And err...you know.

I love you. Seriously.

XO bec

P.S. The Guys Medium which I occasionally buy just for a switch does NOT fit the same way, and does not look right with skirts. It's boxier and baggier than the girlie.

So the solution is NOT to simply buy a guy's shirt instead.

I'm still purchasing Girlie XL's -- in fact I bought two today, with my fingers crossed they won't shrink too much in the dryer.

I get Guys Medium sometimes. But the guys shirts aren't cut the same.

They're baggy & boxy. I like the fitted shape of the girlie t's. I'm just saying -- and i KNOW i'm not the only female who feels this way -- they're just a little bit too small. like maybe a 1/2 size bigger and they'd be perfect. WE HAVE BOOBS.

if I had boobs, I would say amen! I do know a ladyfriend of mine that buys the guys shirts because it won't fit her spectacular boobs. I feel for you girls.

the problem is big boobs make the shirt too short.

that's the only issue i occasionally have.

my boobs are small, and yet the shirts make my tits look so weird!!!

Currently your letter is one word long, you might want to fix your HTML...

I think the big problem here is: AA sucks arse. When the girly tees (XL and L) fit my boobs and hips, they're really baggy around my waist. They're not cut in a feminine way at all. You might actually be better off with the guys' shirts.

So, yeah, more girly shaping needed. And also, I agree a wider size range, since if I'm wearing size L/XL and I'm a UK 14, what about all the many people who are bigger than that? A 14 is hardly extra-large...

No, I don't feel this way, because girly small is too big on me.

shabby: my DDs won't fit in a girly x large either. I buy a mens med and then shrink the shit out of it in the dryer. The shrinking makes the shirt a little more fitted to my body. Oh, and don't pay any attention to chicken curry- some ladies pay thousands to get boobs like ours! :)

Nicely self-centred way to look at it you have there...

Yeah, SRSLY though,

they are like, too short.

Way too short.

I wore my pure imagination shirt probably 2 times, and it is wayyyy too short now, so I can't wear it anymore.

So I bought the guys shirts, and they're thin, and long... which is weird, I thought they'd be the opposite. That's how girly shirts should be. I will get dresscoded at school for my shirt being too short, plus, it looks ugly anyways.

Huh? It's too wide, and too short.

I'm not trying to sound self-centered.

Vindemiatrix
Vindemiatrix on May 29 '07 at 5:01pm
Well, it sounds like you're saying that because you personally can easily wear AA shirts, then it doesn't matter whether or not they try to accomodate people bigger than you or not.

Get a guy's tee.

Please see the posts above.

THE GUYS SHIRTS ARE NOT CUT THE SAME as the girlie shirts. They are boxy and baggy.

A properly fitting girlie shirt will be fitted but not binding. I have LOTS of girlie shirts (not from Threadless) that DO fit the right way. Which is: just a little bit longer and ...i dunno stretchier? than threadless XL.

Okay, then, how about this: if you don't wanna make the XL girlie bigger, then carry an additional girlie size of XXL.

GOD, that's hard to say. I'm not fucking GIANT. I'm a size 12!!!!
bhoomika
bhoomika on May 29 '07 at 5:22pm
well I have huge boobs. Plus I don't want shirts sticking to me.. so I get the guys... that are okay on me - they aren't too loose or tight. plus after a wash or two -- they shrink a little and become more comfy anyways.

Vindemiatrix
Vindemiatrix on May 29 '07 at 5:23pm
While getting a guys' tee is a viable short-term solution, in the long-term the best way to change things is to voice your opinions in this manner. Threadless' FAQ even says: "We haven't had much of a demand to carry other sizes than what we offer. If that changes in the future, we'll definitely add additional sizes. "

If you don't say you want it, how will they know there's a demand? I think considering how huuuuuge the guys' sizes go up to, the big girls deserve some more love - they don't even reach what I would consider to be "plus size". And I'm sure most of us would appreciate a more feminine fit to these things.

you are a size 12.. wow that XL must really be small then. Cause I wear a XXL from like Old Navy and I m not close to size 12.

umm.. i m sorry... I think Kern was talking about something stitching the guy shirts and make it girly. i ll try to find that blog too.

An extra size would be a good idea, yes. And also? If Threadless weren't already planning on jumping ship from AA, I'd be constantly requesting they print on Bella Babydolls for girls. Seriously. Not only are they are soft, good quality fabric, but they are stretchy as hell. As previously mentioned, I'm a UK size 14 (smaller than the American equivalent), and I own a loosely-fitting Bella XL (I generally wear Ls with them) which is SO STRETCHY that my friend who is a UK size 18 can also fit into it. I know Threadless has a lot of problems with people returning the AA girly shirts due to crappy fits, and I bet it would all be smoother with Bella shirts.

Then they should make XXS because kids sizes are small and boxy, and so I can't wear those.

i never buy black shirts anymore because the sizes are always lame. and it sucks theres some cute black ones lately

their sizes are so unpredictable, kirsten once sent me a shirt that was a small and it fit fine, and I have some larges that are too small? how does that work.

I am a size 10 generally. I've bought a guy's medium and girl's larges and they are suffocating. I would love to see a poly-cotton blend with a little give for the girls. These shirts flatten out my boobs!!! I've never worn an extra large...but I'll try it.
Vindemiatrix
Vindemiatrix on May 29 '07 at 5:53pm
You find both girls' large and guys' medium too tight? That's weird, guys' mediums are a lot bigger than girls' large...
