I've scored probably hundreds of designs over the past week yet I'm still showing as having scored the same number of submissions.

I knew the scoring system was never a real-time update, but this is kinda strange, anyone else experience the same thing?

In fact, I'd dare say that sometimes I score submissions that I could have sworn I scored just the day before.

Ok, so not really, I just wrote a scandalous title to make you click here.

However, I do think that over the past few years threadless has printed designs that would feel right at home in the Green Challenge. So in honor of this latest competition, I've written down a list of my Top 5 Printed Designs Related to Being Green.

Perhaps our threadless overlords could reprint one of these designs when the winners are announced.

No. 5 - GROWTH OF DESTRUCTION
GROWTH OF DESTRUCTION
Delving into the world of the abstract, Jessica Walsh does a great job at creating awareness for air pollution via a creative man-vs-nature illustration. According to the World Health Organization, 4.6 million people die each year from causes directly attributed to air pollution (Statement taken from author's original submission).

No. 4 - TREE TOWN
TREE TOWN
I'm not sure if the author of this design intended his shirt to portray a message of being green, but it certainly showcases the problem of urban sprawl and our need for a more sustainable infastructure. This is also one of the most amazing illustrations to ever be printed on threadless.

No. 3 - BE GREEN
BE GREEN
With beautiful typography and probably the most blunt about its message, this design is a finalist for being three years ahead of the challenge. It's almost as if people who bought this shirt were into green before green was even a color.

No. 2 - DEFORESTATION
DEFORESTATION
Rick Crane, the design's author said it best: "Taking Centuries to grow and only seconds to destroy, a hectare of forest is lost every few seconds". The combination of bad ass belt-printing, great message, and great design are the main reasons why I award this shirt the 1st runner-up position.

No. 1 - INFINITY MPG
Infinity MPG
What's a better way to reduce our carbon footprint than to ditch our cars for bicycles? I think this design hits the idea of green right on the money, and not to mention the cleverness of the author in conveying his message with amazing simplicity.

What would TypeTees Select be like?

I think since the sloganeer is not likely to be a great designer, he/she would be paired up with a threadless select winner. One comes up with the slogan, the other one turns it into a design.

Or maybe it could be more democratic, the selected sloganeer would come up with his five favorite slogans, and then the whole community would get to choose their favorite.

Hell, maybe a totally rad slogan could be turned into the first typetee hoodie!
