What is concidered perfect to you? Who really desides. Academic wise, a 4.0 or a 100 is perfect. What about in life. People strive to be #1 but what is it? They decide what perfect is. They decide if they've achieved their goals and if they're number one. But today people are taking other's ideas of perfection and number on and they aim for that. For example: I am striving to achieve your goals (which will not happen) therefore I am a failure because I cannot reach it which you can. I compare myself to other people and become upset when their outcomes are better than mine. It is not their fault, it is mine. Or should we blame society for forcing us to make this decision in the first place?
