figured if anyone could help me with this one, it would be you guys.

I have to order some band merch, and was just wondering what size of shirts sells the fastest around here, whether mens' or womens' sizes sell faster, and anything else you might know that'll help me order a proportionately sound number of each shirt.

the guys we go through use FOTL men's and AA women's, so the sizes will be the same as Threadless sizes.

Check out the stock chart. It completely depends on the design though. Some designs come off feminine and sell accordingly and vice versa.

i'm not sure the stock chart will help you as i believe they print different numbers of each size depending on what they already know sells best. you'd be better off asking a staff member.

i think guys L's are usually most popular, but i was surprised to find that it was much less popular when selling my own shirts.

how many shirts total are you purchasing? then i can give you an average of what i've noticed.

not many at all. maybe 25 so they wave the screen fee, then more if those sell. any averages you could give me would be fantastic! i don't really expect anyone to have the difinitive answer here, just any little hints so i don't blow the bank on a size that most humans aren't.

do you know the band - and have you been to their shows?
what type of crowd do they attract (in general)?

i think most bands start with men's M L and XL - figuring smaller guys and girls can just wear it looser

bands with an older (ie. fully grown, and generally less fit) fan-base would tend towards larger sizes

but if the fan base is mostly teens to young 20-somethings they would tend toward smaller sizes

metal bands have fewer female fans - a lot don't bother with girls shirts until they have a large solid fanbase

pop/indie bands you might want closer to 50-50 split of girls and guys

as for # - that depends if it's a single show, a small local area tour, selling off a website, or opening on a larger tour

single show - you won't want many - unless you plan to sell on a website later

dunno if that helps

oops, sorry for my late response!

from personal experience selling this shirt, this is what i would say:

girly s: 3
girly m: 4
standard s: 6
standard m: 5
standard l: 3
standard xl: 2
standard 2xl: 2

but as mentioned, it really depends on how the shirt looks, and the general audience of the music!

your safe bet is getting lots of standard/men S's, because i think girls could fit into those without it being terribly baggy, and it seems to fit a lot of guys too. so you could feasibly have that be your smallest size, if you don't want the range of sizes scattered too much.

well, I'll definately be getting some girly sizes. personal bias, being as I myself am a girly small and find men's smalls mightymighty unflattering. Anyway, our crowds are a pretty good mix... marginally more guys than girls.

Our logo is that image at the top right of my profile. It will be in black and white ink on light blue shirts and sagestone shirts (maybe more colours in future runs if this run does alright)

which brings me to my next question... Sagestone is a Fruit of the Loom thing. What is the AA colour called that Threadless substitutes for Sagestone when they make girly "sagestone" shirts? Anyone know?

anyhoo, thanks for the help and suggestions, guys! I think I know what I am going to order now.

p.s. -- J-Ray... are you in Canada too?
