"good things" would be an understatement.

it's also without a doubt the most respectful screen adaption of an amazing book I've ever seen.

Potential Oscar-winning performances, mayhaps?
roboroller
roboroller on Nov 25 '07 at 1:07am
all three leads (Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones and ESPECHILLY Javier Bardem) have a good shot at Oscar nods. I wouldn't be suprised if all three get nominated.

I think it might be TO daring for the academy, but I'd go so far to say that Bardem WILL win Best Suporting Actor right now.

its...in all honesty...the best thing the cohen's have ever done. Cormac McCarthy is amazing, I can't wait to see what the screen adaption of The Road will come out like.

Cormac McCarthy is probably an incredible author. I've only read The Road but it was amazing, and No Country for Old men had a similar feel, so I imagine it has something to do with Cormac McCarthy being amazing.

So much about that movie was perfect. The segments of dialogue involving Chigurh were intense and fascinating, and unlike anything else, right from the first time he talks to the gas station clerk to the end.

I'm also a bit of a sucker for a stark, nihilistic film. I loved proposition too, which has a more than a few things in common with No Country for Old men. Overall, I agree with you, one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

I'm hoping to go see No Country For Old Men this week, or on the weekend. I don't want to miss it!

I really wanted to see it last weekend. When I bought my ticket and went into the theatre it was packed, with only a few seats in the front row. I sat down and was already getting a headache from the looming screen. I decided to refund my ticket and try again another time since I had been looking forward to it and wanted to see it under ideal conditions.

Perhaps i should've read the book to better appreciate this film... but it seems I'm in the minority in saying i was rather disappointed.

Dont get me wrong, the acting was definitely terrific, and I was really into the characters and the storyline. It was the ending that did it for me... I dont know... it just seemed really anti-climatic to me. Throughout the entire movie I was filled with anticipation as to what was going to transpire... but it fell flat. Thats just my opinion, Id go into further detail, but i dont want to give anything away to anyone who hasnt seen it.

There could have been lots of more satisfying ways to end the movie. However, I felt the ending was consistent with the philosophy of the whole movie and probably the most appropriate way to finish the film.

I thought the ending was beautiful. That speech that the Sheriff gives about his dream was powerful in the book, but the way that Tommy Lee Jones delivered it in the movie will haunt me for a long time. I also love the fact that Llewyen dies randomly and Chigura gets away clean, it seemed to make more sense than a nice, tidy, happy ending. Something like that would have made no sense in a story such as this.

Finally saw it yesterday, and it lived up to your hype... fantastic, haunting film with nail-biting suspense. I was definitely surprised by the ending, but that's what ultimately made me like it... a pat ending that satisfies your expectations can be enjoyable, but I like how they went into deeper waters. Great film.

I wanna see this movie too, been waiting for it to arrive to the theaters here. I don't go to the movie much anymore but this is one flick I want to view from the silverscreen.
opifan64

Oh yeah, definitely see it on the big screen. The cinematography is wonderful, and there's no soundtrack, so all the subtle ambient noises are really important in terms of building suspense and atmosphere which you would lose if you rented it (unless you have a kick ass surround sound system at home).
