i had the worst day ever at work today

I'm a shift leader at Hollywood Video and GAWD DAMN, I'm REALLY starting to hate the Holidays. People get grumpy, I get grumpy, the weather gets shitty and everyone wants to watch movies and everything goes wrong all the time...like today...where we were understaffed and I felt so god damned overworked it was pathetic. I had all of these projects that I had to get done but it was busy as hell and it was only me and one other guy (who is just BARELY compentent) there, and every single customer needed me to babysit there shopping trip like a bunch of fucking 4 year olds. GAAAAAH

also, I got off nearly two hours later than I was supposed to.

Aww....heh...it's not that nobody cares Shad, I just don't think they know how to make it better. Work is such a huge chunk of your life and when it sucks it pretty much contaminates everything else in your life. Thought of changing jobs? How long have you been there?

not long, five months, obviously I'm trying really hard to NOT BE a video store clerk forever...i don't expect anyone to fix it I guess...uh...I just thought...maybe, I dunno...I'm being an ass basically because I'm grumpy.

Nothing wrong with venting - Need to release that stress otherwise you'll end up losing it. Have you ever seen Fisherking? I love the movie selection advice Jeff Bridges gives to a customer in that film. One of my favourite pieces of cinema. Perhaps you're too good @ your job - be less accomodating !

i used to work at a video store, i worked there about four months or so during the summer after my junior year in high school. People are pretty... um, needy i think is the word, when they go shopping at a video store. So i understand your frustration! The good thing was, when i worked there i didn't need to actually keep my job so i could just be an ass if i got upset... can't really do that to blow off steam if you want to actually keep working there though. Maybe you should just start recommending people really awful movies or something...
