So, a report was just published a few days ago that pretty much offically declares the Yangtze River Dolphin extinct. This is kind of some bummer news. I remember reading about these guys in Douglas Adams' "Last Chance to See" a long time ago and thinking they were super cool animals and it was a shame what was happening to them and now they're saying that they're all gone.
The first aquatic mamal to go extinct in over 50 years and the first large mamal to become extinct due to human industry. sad, sad stuff. ![]() take a few seconds of silence will ya?

"Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. How on earth can you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That's relativity."

so this is pretty official, yeah... I've been hearing about this for awhile but it's never been for sure.
What a pity. Apparently large portions of the Yangtze are basically just water running through a concrete river bed.
