Man I haven't been here in a while.
If you look through my past submissions you'll see I've experimented with a wide variety of techniques for trying to work within threadless' color limitations.
I've tried freehand, pen tool, draw/scan/color, draw/color/scan, illustrator, photoshop, painter. I've tried everything I can think of. I'm missing some fundamental component that I can't kin. ![]() That's my original digital illustration for this concept. ![]() http://www.threadless.com/critique/6459/Celestial_Surgery This is my new attempt at a translation into Threadless acceptable format.
I just had an amazing revelation of a technique to improve the quality of my submissions.
My big problem is that trying to translate my ideas into such a limited scale (5 color max + shirt) has been really tough for me. I love playing with textures and contrasts and saturations. It's my thing. Trying to digitally illustrate so crisply with so few colors is counter intuitive. My most recent attempt was VERY minimal. Unfortunately too minimal. The cookie didn't translate. I just had a revelation though. I'm gonna try something. Hopefully this will work. If I succeed it'll allow me to maintain a much more organic feel in my submissions. Wish me luck and if you don't hear back from me in 7 days... call the president.
Does anyone know of any good poster/art print shops where I can order in decent bulk with good pricing?
I'm looking to get a panel at a convention to sell prints of my digital illustrations.
That is all.
I'm looking for work. Ideally I'd like to get a job in digital illustration, traditional illustration, design, etc.
I've been reviewing resources and job hunting sites all day and working on my resume. I figured I should try to make use of the experience and expertise here. Does anyone have any leads in the Boston, MA area? Does anyone know of any reliable sites for hunting for such jobs? Does anyone have any reliable resources for freelancing? :-) Thanks.
With all the illustrators, artists and know how on this site I figured it would be a good place to look.
A friend of mine has been scripting a comic book (not strip style, actual marvel/dc/darkhorse/image/ect style books). I've been working on character compositions and cover ideas. We're trying to find panel artists. It also wouldn't hurt if we could find inkers, letterers and colonists but we can handle that if needed. I'm wondering if anyone around here has that kind of skill or knows a site/community/forum (besides craigslist) where we could likely find one. Any direction anyone could give would be most appreciated. (just FYI: He's the primary visionary for this project so he will be contacting people and making the decisions of who to harass about this. I'm just trying to find options. if you have any direct questions hit me at grypes[at]gmail[dot]com) |
I’m am illustrator. Plain and simple. Both analog and digital.
I'm autodidacticly polymathic (look it up). As a result I tend to keep very busy. At any given point I have a number of active hobbies, studies and projects. I like learning about people, studying the combinations of patterns that make each person who they are. I like understanding how things work. |
