what's a good way to scan a pencil drawing...

if you want to really just use the drawing itself (not trace over it)

like the pencil stuff that adam white does

personally I scan my drawings in sections at 300 DPI, being that my scan is 0nly 19x by whatever. Then I assemble them on one canvas and make several duplicates of the various parts of the illustration, then I tweak it and use layer modes until I poop out something that I like.

However, I am not Adam White.

8 thousands dpi grey scale in a a2 scanner drawing in a a1 sheet.

you will just need to stitch the 2 parts together.
