back in the states!

well, for a few days now actually.

umm....i'd been having problems with my macbook, so i took it in to the apple store....

they tell me my hard drive is failing.....

90% of my photos from my trip are on this hard drive.....

bought the computer a month and a half ago....

so yeah..... anyone have any good data-recovery-related tips?

Welcome back Brett. That is lame about the Mac, I know there are places you can send the drive and they can recover all of your info. It just depends how much $ you are willing to spend. If they have to swap out our hard drive, make sure you get the old one back

Do you have Apple Care, I hope?

unfortunately i don't have any special warranty on this one, but i've heard if they fail completely within a short amount of time that apple will replace it anyway....hopefully

yeah, i found an expensive data recovery place.....trying to decide if its worth it :(

welcome back! sorry about your hard-drive problem, that stinks. hope you can get it fixed easy....if it boots up, why not just back it up to an external hard-drive? is it not booting up at all?

Sometimes it will boot if you hold the command key while you power it up. The apple forums are very good for advice, so long as you can stand obnoxious computer geeks
