macbook trouble

hey i've been having problems with my laptop.

yesterday i found some wireless and downloaded some updates for leopard. when it went to restart, to implement the updates, it just never rebooted. now i can't get it to start up. it just sits on the white screen with the apple logo and the spinning time wheel thing.....anyone had a problem like this?

any advice would be much appreciated--i'll check back later as i have to go back to the hotel now. thanks :)

try a restart whilst holding down shift (boots without extensions)

How long do you leave the reboot going for?

I've just updated my OS and it took over 5 minutes to reboot, after the restart. It seemed to be stuck on the same screen you mentioned, but after a fashion it loaded up.

yeah usually if i have that problem i just give it time. but i left it alone for several hours and it still never booted up.

if you have applecare, just call them ... i abused that service thoroughly with my last laptop :-)

I had this same problem after about two weeks of owning my macbook. I sent it back to be fixed and they concluded that the extra memory wasn't installed correctly. But i haven't had any problems since. You should call apples customer service number they were helpful when i called. goodluck
