I'm thinking about getting a pair of black jeans to spice up my wardrobe...you know, to contrast with my many blue jeans. My girlfriend hates them, but what do the bloggers think? Yay or nay? If yay, what are good brands? I usually buy American Eagle (CONFORMIST OMG) jeans, they fit nicely.

On a side note, where can I find some vintagey button up shirts that don't have logos on them? Nowhere around here (small town in Canada) carries any, but there might be places in the city. Thanks!

I like black jeans, so I bought a pair. Then I realized 95% of my shirts are black. I look so hard-core now.

I would say no to black jeans but that is because I am a light and cheery person. And I love the color green:green and black no mix.

The black jeans that I'm wearing right now are a well-broken-in pair of Levi's that I got at some thrift store ages ago. I don't remember any specifics, sorry.

Small-town thrift stores are the best places for buying vintage clothing. In the big cities things get picked over too quickly.

Though I did have amazing luck in a big and kinda disorganised thrift store in downtown Vancouver a couple of years ago. I wonder if it's still there.....more likely, it's been bulldozed to make room for another condo building.

Hmmm, Google Maps seems to think it still exists:

Wildlife Thrift Store

1295 Granville Street, Vancouver, BC V6Z 1M5

This is probably completely academic though, as you likely live thousands of miles away from it.

asfi: I think I'm going to get some at American Eagle, none of the thrift stores I've perused around here seem to have any. Thanks for the address, but I live near Ottawa, Ontario. Check a map, that's like halfway across the country.

moose: Thanks I guess, I get that every so often...strangely it's usually when people are hitting on me.

What is this 'tight rolling'?

I have a pair of black jeans and I like them, but they seem to go with less stuff than my blue jeans.

Dunno if they're your style, but I quite like the slim slack from Amercian Apparel. They ship out of Montreal.
cliffdogg

Lol I can't imagine a worse setting for those books.

Harry, Ron and Hermione hid in the foothills of the Saskatchewan prarie from the evil death grip of Lord Voldemort. However, after two weeks, they realized giving themselves up to the Dark Lord would be better than spending another night in the cold, boring tundra.
cliffdogg
cliffdogg on Aug 22 '07 at 3:07pm
@julie: really? I was at the American Apparel store in Ottawa last night and didn't see any jeans. I did see a cashier wearing tiny little booty shorts though. I guess working there gives you licence to dress like a retard.
mooseinmyshoe

The same thing would happen here in Maryland. Except they would either drown from the random bodies of water or be ripped apart by zombie hobos

Dude, ease up on the teenage attitude, OK? Like I said,

This is probably completely academic though, as you likely live thousands of miles away from it.

BTW, the foothills of the Saskatchewan prairie are nearly 1000 miles south of the nearest tundra region, which is near the NWT-Nunavut border. So who needs a geography lesson now?

Black jeans are pretty snazzy. I can wear mine for about a month or so without washing them because they don't show dirt.

asfi: chill the fuck out. Sorry if my comment seemed rude to your antique, cataract glazed eyeballs. That was unintentional. I am also sorry that my well-researched, fact based story starring Harry Potter and his wizarding friends contained a geography error. I spent so much time on it too!

Someone seems a little grouchy, try changing your colostomy bag- it might make you feel better!

@cliff, yes they absolutely have jeans at American Apparel, and cords too. Check out their website, but they should be available in store too. There was lots at the store in Edmonton when I was there last month.
