How do you do the watercolors when they're separate from the actual piece? That's always fascinated me.

Canson paper is a porous paper, good for watercolors (its cheap)
but you can use any watercolor paper...each one give you different results... check this

i redraw the main parts of the piece on the paper i'll paint, but making it very soft, so i can remove the lines when i finish to paint

Leroy: Watercolours are nowhere near as intimidating as they look. If you like the look and want to try, all you need is a few tubes of basic colour (cyan, magenta, yellow), watercolour paper and a few brushes.
