Consigning slogans to the grave

I have a few slogans that have been around for a while (got over 100 votes) and scored pretty well (up to 86%) but obviously not been selected; just wondering if there's much point keeping them in the running - has anyone had a slogan printed a long time after it was subbed?

it's cool to see a printed designer who is dedicated to slogans, I'd say the majority of alumni just think we're (I'm) a joke!

it's uber addictive! i have 1/2 slogans littering my notepad at work. and the notes feature on my cell. lol.

I guess some people might hear/see something at work etc and then spend the next hour trying to figure out a slogan that would work from it, hypothetically speaking, of course.

If i kill off a slogan I always make sure to re-work/re-word it later on, it paid off for a couple of my printed shirts.

Maltz, are you willing to share which slogans you reworked to success (and where they began)? Did you leave a lot of time between dumping and resubbing the new versions? I've heard that reworking and resubbing a slogan too much too quickly doesn't do well. This is a great blog topic.

The more time goes by, the more I think scores, 'freshness' and length of your list don't matter nearly as much as just happening to catch a staffer's eye and them thinking "yeah, that's a shirt!"....

And I say that in hopes that a staffer will see that statement here in this blog, and think, "this guy is smart -- he's got it figured out... wonder what his slogans are like"

...and that statement just made them not actually want to look....

You've got to cut the chaff out quickly, the longer they stay around the harder they are to delete. I have a slog that's been around for nearly 2 years ( frisked in airports ) and to delete it now would be like sacrificing my own flesh and blood.
