I just got my tee a few days ago, printed on the Threadless brand shirt. I love the design, Loch Ness Impostor was the very first shirt to suck me into Threadless and I'm thrilled to finally own it! I like the shirt colour too, it's really bright and eye-popping.

However I was disappointed to find that the tag said 'Made in Bangladesh'?? That killed a bit of my enthusiasm since all my other shirts say 'Made in USA' :( I also noticed the stitching on the hem is looser than the other Threadless brand tee I have and the printed tag with the name of the designer is slightly blurred. Is the quality of the shirts dropping..? =/ I still love my shirt but I kinda wish these little details could've been improved on.

I actually love the new Threadless tees. I can order the same size and know exactly how it will fit, versus the irregularities with FOTL. And they're really soft! But that's just my preference. There was a blog that I found with information about the Bangladesh factory, as others seem to have had the same reservations that you had. I found the blog to be informative and reassuring. I am HTML illiterate, but here's the address:

because if there's one thing we shouldn't do it's import goods.

Its not so much the importing, but the possible sweatshop conditions that worry people.

You're either a snob who doesn't want her shirts made by Bangladeshis, or someone who instantly assumes that absolutely anything and everything made in a poorer country is like, duh, totally made by underaged sweatshop urchins with sad eyes and tear-streaked cheeks.

i think it is admirable to question what you are buying, not enough people do that. but threadless as you can see in that link morsecoderain posted is working with a pretty legit factory.
so no worries.

also, flippinheck needs to calm down.

I do. I stand by what I said... but I could have been less bitchy. But thoughtless comments like "That killed a bit of my enthusiasm since all my other shirts say 'Made in USA' "really do piss me off.

I didn't know about the link (thanks morsecoderain) and that all the new ss shirts were being made in Bangladesh. I'm Asian living in Asia so where the shirt is made isn't so much of an issue. It just seemed as though Threadless was compromising since the other Threadless brand tee I have (We Can Fix It) was tagged Made in USA.

Another weird thing I noticed is that when laid out flat, the front and back hem of my LNI shirt don't line up together/straight unlike WCFI (and all the others) which does.

Anyway, I don't want to start a heated debate here. I know I am rather particular but I end up paying a lot for these shirts sometimes, with the exchange rate, and I like to know what quality I'm getting. Thanks to everyone who helped clear up a little of my confusion :)

We shouldn't buy things that aren't made here. No one can regulate working conditions outside of the U.S. period, and the reasons companies don't traffic in U.S. labor is because they can't get away with slave wages and manufacturing an inferior product here.

For the buyer foreign made goods mean lesser quality goods, and THAT was why morsecoderain was concerned about the lack of "made In The USA" branding on the shirt.

Reactionary comments like Flippenheck's only serve to muddle the issue at hand.

The issue is "The tees are starting to suck because they are being mass produced in countries with cheap labor and inferior materials."

The sad thing is this observation will not improve quality. More Than likely pressure will be on the Bangadeshi factories to improve quality of the tees, but the means to do so will not be provided. So what do you think that spells for the workers? Longer hours, less pay and ...more inferior products.

Back to the topic: I used to order a lot of shirts here, but I stopped after buying some of the Threadless brand shirts. One of them even has holes in it after only 3 times washing (30 degrees celcius, short cycle). I'd rather pay a bit more for better quality! AA or Fruit of the Loom were much better!
It really is a shame cause the designs are the best!

i just got my new shirts, they're much thinner and flimsier than the old ones! not to mention that one of them had the paint peeling off....

would really prefer the old quality back...my old shirts are still going strong after 2 years, and the printing is still great.
