Yep. I'm going to the beach for 10 day, to re-create myself.

What should I read?

I like:
literary fiction (and would love to find someone new)
crime stories/mystery fiction (but not tripe)
humor (like David Sedaris)

Please advise.

For mystery fiction I love the author Harlan Coben stand alone novels:

Hold Tight
The Woods
The Innocent
Just One Look
No Second Chance
Gone for Good
Tell No One

His books are easy and entertaining reading, I finish them quickly cos I can't put them down.

I do like Coben, and I've only read the last three on your list.

I would love to read a new Preston and Child, but there isn't one yet.

I read a couple Meltzer books, a long time ago. I liked 'em.

Excellent! That's two authors to peruse in the Borders tonight.

Not having read the book probably helped me with that one.

I did think it was funny how Denzel didn't look anything like a quadrapalegic.

I'd recommend anything by Nick Hornby, like 'a long way down'. Also maybe something by Murakami, 'after dark' is a very good book.
