Read "Wild Trees' by Richard Preston. Excellent book that is all about that tree

Just think of the beautiful sound that tree will make when some timber company gets wind of this and buys up the rights to that land! If that tree falls in the woods and no one's there to hear it...I still think people would think a Brontosauras just keeled over in the distance.

@ FA- Only a select few people even know where this tree is(the exact location at least). It is a closely guarded secret by the biologists who study it. So for now, I think it's safe :)

The cool thing is that some of those super tall trees have little ecosystems of animals and plants and fungus living in the very tops, like salamanders and ferns and mosses and mushrooms that grow in depressions or holes. Way up there!

I wanna see this tree!!
before the lumber companies try & cut it down :(

wow... that is incredible! so beautiful.

for the record, as much as I abhor clear-cutting everyone bears a shared responsibility. People criticize the lumber companies yet they're simply supplying a demand. Most people have wooden furniture, live in wood-framed houses, use paper at work, read books, magazines, and newspapers. It's a comforting fallacy to demonize the lumber industry when really the problem is more complex.
