Hi, what program do you guys use to make graphics and illustrations? I've never made one but I would like to start and try out some things. Any tips?

I'm a complete beginner, but I use Gimp, which is similar to photoshop in its capabilities, but free. If you don't yet have a fancy art program, I'd recommend it, since photoshop is expensive.

Or try the 30 day free download. If its ok then try and find a code to put in for the free version. Its not stealing its just having a long lend. :)

Just walk around the mall and look for artesy fartesy tip kids, then walk up behind them and whisper "hey you got the dobe"?

Seriously Though you can use alot of stuff. Illustrator and Photoshop are at the top of the food chain. You can also use flash, paintshop or any free drawing program. If you're still a student you can get a student copy of Illustrator and Photoshop for a lot less. If you're not, take a class at a community college or something, a lil instructionwouldn't hurt anyway. You get those free 30 day downloads from the adobe site.

good luck :}

Sorry ben away got to www.adobe.com and choose a programme. Be warned these files are big and can take up to 30 mins to download depending on your PC and connection speed.

Never used the Gimp one but it comes up now and then in these blogs so could be worth a look. Photoshop and illustrator have a very steep learning curve.

Adobe Illustrator works really well, as well as Adobe Photoshop.

Although Illustrator can be expensive, it's well worth it.
The older editions are cheaper though.. and work just as well.

Also, like said above..
You can download it for free for 30 days..
to learn how to use it and get used to the program.

It's quite easy once you use it (and the commands are quite simple)

I hope you find what you're looking for and have fun.

:)
